I have a Linksys BEFSR41 Router, with a Linksys Cable Modem. This Router is connected to three different systems; one, my current computer, which uses the built in 3COM network card, built in to the Asus P4C800 Deluxe motherboard. This uses the most up to date drivers. Two, to another, generic Dell computer. The third, to my Xbox 360, which is rarely turned on, never when I am on this computer.
The only computer that has disconnection problems is my current computer, the one with the Asus P4C800 Deluxe motherboard. VERY often, usually while playing World of Warcraft and I have Ventrilo open, my connection to this computer will cease to function. I get disconnected from Ventrilo AND World of Warcraft, and I cannot connect to the internet at all. To fix this, about 5% of the time all I have to do is restart the computer. The rest of the time, even after a restart I must completely turn off my Cable Modem/router, and wait about a minute before plugging it back in, then I go back and restart this computer. Sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't. Oftentimes, I must do this several times to get it to work, or switch the port in the router that the ethernet cable is plugged into.
This started about 8 months ago. Recently, in the past week or so, it has started happening more and more frequently. It also sometimes disconnects me from Ventrilo fora short period of time while the game I'm playing stays connected. Sometimes I get large hiccups of lag in game, where people run into walls and things like that for 5-30 seconds, then everyone warps back into place, my latency shoots up to over 1000, and I generally have to start my modem/router up again to make it work normally again, and it does the same thing over and over, regardless.
I use charter internet, though I think it must have something to do with my computer/network card/cable/router, though I really don't know for sure. I would VERY much appreciate help, as at the moment I can't even stay connected to Ventrilo for more than ten minutes without large hiccups/complete disconnects.
