make a bootable w2k cd

My W2k CD isn't bootable. So I always have to use the floppies to run setup. This takes a long time, so I was wondering what I needed to do to make a new CD that is bootable. I've tried Nero and I think I have to create an image file of the boot disks first, but I'm still looking for a prog that will create an *.ima file for me. Any other ways out there? Thanks.

Id take the cd back to where you got it. Every Win2k cd Ive had the misfortune of coming across has been bootable.

hes right. every win2k cd is bootable. if you have an actual win2k cd then either your bios doesnt support booting from CD drive or your CD drive doesnt support booting from it.

I was able to make a bootable CD. But it was no help because my registry is fried and I can't restore it. For some reason, once I get into the Recovery Console, it doesn't detect my W2k installation, so I have no access to the \Winnt folder. So I can't go anywhere. Sucks for me....

I have had the same problem in the past.
I made a Win2k boot disk, here's how you do it, you need access to another Win2k machine.
Format a floppy disk on the Win 2k machine (must be 2k or it won't work)
Copy these sytem files onto the disk: NTLDR NTDETECT.COM BOOT.INI BOOTSECT.DOS
If you can't find them do a search. You may have to edit the BOOT.INI to point to your installation.
Then just boot up with the disk, this will bypass your corrupt startup files and boot your Win2k installation so hopefully you can then fix the problem or recover your important files.
