Interesting...didn't know such tape existed. Why the piece of paper though? Wouldn't it make more sense just to use clear scotch tape to get the "template" for the dots and bridges. Then you can fasten the scotch to a solid footing, lay the other tape non-adhesive side to it, and easily place down the copper-backed tape. Thing is though, if the side going to the tape is adhesive as well, its a 1 time shot at it. 2 adhesive sides with something as small as that means it'll be ruined if you don't lay it down correctly the first time.
This unlocking thing has really got me thinking now, how about this idea?
Lay down a layer of scotch tape covering the gaps and gold dots. Use an Exacto knife to carefully cut/puncture the tape over top of the gold dots. Cut out pieces of that tape that are the size of the bridge. Use a small tiny dab of conductive paint or defogger repair paint to "fasten" the tape ends to each gold dot. A bit on the end of a toothpick should be enough, and furthermore, it would ensure solid conductive contact between the tape and the gold dot, while holding it momentarily in place.
Place another piece of tape over the whole thing, or a thin layer of clear nail polish.
Not sure if this is getting in the realm of expensive, especially with that tape. A few more days of brain-storming and board reading, and then its off to the hardware store for another $20 in purchases....hehe funny how it all adds up so fast
