Hi guys.

I run Windows XP Professional in my laptop. Whenever I'm using it at home I plug a lot of USB peripherals to it (keyboard, mouse, external sound card, etc). It REALLY annoys me that everytime I do that i have to deal with the "Found New Hardware Wizard"... The drivers are already installed, I just gotta keep hitting "next" all the time until it works by itself.

Is there a way to make Windows XP automatically try the default/automatic options when you plug USB stuff on the computer, bypassing the said "Wizard"?

Thanks a lot!

Not sure why that is happening. As long as your using the same port for the same device, it should just enable. You should NOT be getting the wizard each time. Now, it is normal to get it once per port per device (so 3 ports, 3 device, worst case 9 times for every combination). Could that be what is happening?

Hey, tnx for the reply. Yep, that could be the reason. But i have 2 different windows installations on this machine, 4 usb ports, and 5 usb devices i'm plugging constantly (besides the 3 i already mentioned, i use a USB hub to also plug a midi keyboard, an external hard drive and ipod/camera).

So that leaves me with a LOT of combinations.. Jesus man, what is the difference if it's one port or another? They're all USB 2.0 ports.. Windows's UI is just so lacky sometimes.

Do you think there's a workaround for this, even if it involves using software such as PowerToys?
