Darn it !
Look at those G5s.

They are awesome inside-out. I can spend $3000 on my PC and it still won't look as good.

Now I am depressed.

Can someone be kind enough and help boost the moral by reminding me why am I still using a PC ?

Thanks

Hire a professional case-modder (ie GideonTech people), and pay them $500 to mod a base case (say Lian-Li PC6xxx series). Spend $2500 on a high powered Pentium 4-C or Dual Xeon. There we go.

I'm not at all impressed by the G5 case. Sorry. Not even a window to show off the much bragged about 'neatness' ???

So when will you see the neatness on the inside? Most Mac owners will never open their case...

Naah... still depressed.
What are they going to do ? Put a couple of light bulbs and turn my PC into a bilboard ?
How does this
or this

compare to this

Talking about engineering neatness...
... and look at that air-flow design ....

Darn... I am having an identity crisis here :-(

Those are NOT $500 mods. Those cases are just unmodded ThermalTakes with some idiots who slap on a few CCFL's and think they are uber 133+. Go look around some more.

Its also called "if your fan breaks down, Apple is going to charge you $100 to fix it".

As Stroker McGurl used to say in Hot Rod magazine,"If it don't go chrome it". With a computer, who gives a damn what it looks like. When you click the mouse the whole world should jump. Style over substance is for the artsy touchy feely crowd.

arent those G5 innards too perfect to not be touched up?

and as for the cabling i can twist and bend mine too to hide then but then when i want to swap out some parts then the neatness is a problem

Gag.

1. Windows are for posers.
2. Apple better make sweet looking cases...they need something to distract you from the fact that you paid 3x more than a comparable PC would cost.

Window mods are for people who would rather look at their hardware than use it (or can't use it and HAVE to look it instead).

I have a very powerufl system that is extremely neat, with a window... I would consider myself a power user and i know how to use my hardware... I guess i would rather LOOK at my hardware.. Righhht...

Can you show me a PC comparable to the dual G5 that costs US$1000?

The thing that irks me is what covers the CPUs. Are those the actual heatsinks? Because if they are they those are the LARGEST heatsinks I have seen! No wonder the Cprocessors are passively cooled - the heatsink is a freaking monster!

Now I want one

Wait, you mean we're supposed to buy computers based upon how they look INSIDE a non-windowed case? Damn, here I was all these years buying computers based upon how fast/stable they run the programs I use on a regular basis. I guess I better call the Queer Eye for the Straight Guy guys and have them queer me up.

Can those G5s suit all your needs besides the eye candy? I'm referring to developement software, games, etc.

I'm not sure it's about how it looks but how well laid out it all is. In the professional world of enclosure layout/design, the tidyness and economy of an enclosure are very important - almost as important as the functionality of the box. The appearance of the G5 innards are a testament of Apple's engineering accomplishment rather than aesthetics. (my professional opinion)
