As his participation chart shows, Mander started cracking RC5 back in May of 1999. His stats were great and kept him at the top in the dailies and quickly got him into the top 100 overall. At that time, I was putting out 15 to 20K blocks per day, but this Mander guy was about to pass me. So, I sent him an e-mail, asked him about his setup and BOOM, he joined our team. He had been part of a Compaq team, but they were all bored with it, so he came on over and was very active in our forums helping with network problems, pproxies and Remote Cow usage. Mander's secret power was a room full of multi-processor Compaq Servers that were running Beta Operating Systems from Microsoft, so they needed to be load test, right? All of them networked, on 24/7, so it put out great numbers. Anyway, Mander's bosses at Compaq decided that they wanted to support a Compaq SETI team, so we lost a great cracking power. Then, Mander left Compaq and now works for VJungle (
www.vjungle.com) and still keeps in touch.
crap - just noticed that I'll drop out of the top 100 RC5 overall list in a day or two.
