when installing mandrake 8.1 it asked me if i wanted to use an experimental kernal instead of the 4.3. It said the experimental one would give me 3d acceleration. I chose the 3d acceleration kernel.
So i boot my system and decide to try a 3d app called OpenUniverse. It starts and freezes. I then try Tux Racer...Freezes. Anything that requires 3d acceleration freezes. I am using a geforce 2 mx with 64 mb ram, its not the best but i should still be able to see these apps without freezing my comp.
Why doesnt the 3d acceleration work? do i need linux nvidia drivers or what? I was never prompted to install drivers when installing linux like i am in Windows. my video card is "seen" by linux, i know this because it shows the name of my video card in the configuration of the operating system.
thank you for any suggestions.
