Hey guys, I have this game that I can't uninstall. I was wondering if it'd be okay to just delete it's folder in the program files folder, and run a registry cleaner. Would that be okay? Anybody else have any suggestions?

The registry cleaner's probably unnecessary and will probably do more harm than good, most games don't put a whole lot in the registry.

Use Norton CleanSweep - part of Norton System Works (NSW.) It does a good job. If you delete it manually, then do a registry scrub using WinDoctor - also in NSW

First try installing over the current install....if you still have the CDs/DVD. This may fix the install log which could have become corrupt on the initial install.

Or, go to the website of the software manufacturer....they may have specific manual uninstall directions. I know I've used EASport's instructions to manually remove Tiger Woods 2005.

Or try here for some generic instructions:

Hadsus, how did you uninstall Tiger Woods manually? The game that I can't uninsall is an EA one also, so it might be similar.

Can't link to the EA support site so here's a cut 'n paste:

Question:

What do you do when you get a registry error trying to uninstall or reinstall Tiger Woods 2005?

Answer:

An improper installation or corruption of the game data can not only prevent the game from loading, but can cause the game to crash at seemingly random but very specific points in the game. When such an occurrence happens, it?s best to manually remove all of the components to make sure that next installation does not run into the same issues. To do a manual uninstall for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 just follow these steps:

Delete the game folders.

1. Click on the Start button.

2. Click on the Run button.

3. Type C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS into the text field, and press OK.

i) Note: If you changed the install path during the initial installation, you?ll
need to type that into the text field in lieu of the previous path.

4. Click on the Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 folder and press Delete on your keyboard.
i) Note: When prompted if you are sure, choose Yes.

5. Once deleted, click on the Start button.

6. Click on All Programs or Programs.

7. Click on the EA Sports folder.

8. Right-click on the Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 folder and choose Delete.
i) Note: When prompted if you are sure, choose Yes.

Delete the game registry keys. (Warning: Changes to the registry can cause your computer to operate improperly, so please follow these instructions exactly as they are written.)

2. Click on Run.
3. Type regedit into the available text field, and press OK.
4. If you are using Windows 2000/XP, click on File, and select Export.
i) Note: If you are using Windows 95/98/ME, click on Registry
then select Export Registry.
5. Select All under Export Range.
6. Type backup into the File name field, and click Save.

Follow these steps to remove the game registry keys from your system:

1. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
2. Double-click on SOFTWARE.
3. Double-click on EA SPORTS.
4. Right-click on Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 and choose Delete.
i) Note: When prompted if you are sure, choose Yes.
5. Double-click on Electronic Arts.
6. Double-click on EA SPORTS.
7. Right-click on Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 and choose Delete.
i) Note: When prompted if you are sure, choose Yes.
8. Double-click on Microsoft.
9. Double-click on Windows.
10. Double-click on Current Version.
11. Double-click on Uninstall.
12. Right-click on {2FDD9D12-46C9-4156-A4A0-55297B9498CA} and choose Delete.
i) Note: When prompted if you are sure, choose Yes.
13. Close the Registry Editor.

If it becomes necessary to restore your registry here's how:

1. Click the Start button then select Run.
2. Type ?regedit?.
3. Click on File in the upper menu (Registry in Windows 98)
then click Import Registry File.
4. Find the ?backup? file you created earlier (usually in My Documents)
and click on it.
5. Click Open.

Removing the uninstall Files.

1. Double-click on the My Computer icon from your Windows desktop or Start Menu.
2. Double-click on your Local Disk (usually C: )
3. Double-click Program Files.
4. From the Toolbar, launch Tools then select Folder Options.
5. Select View then select ?Show hidden files and folders?.
6. Select Apply then OK at the bottom of the dialog box.
7. Open the Install Shield Installation Information folder.
8. Delete the {2FDD9D12-46C9-4156-A4A0-55297B9498CA} folder if it's there.
i) Note: When prompted if you are sure, choose Yes.
9. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 should now be completely uninstalled.

You're gonna have problems with a couple of the registry keys 'cause they are just numbers/characters.

Go to the EA site, choose the game, and then go to support from there.
