Can't anybody spot a lunatic when they see one?

This guy is a wacko, and has been for quite some time. I remember seeing his page a long time ago. He seems to have many, many, many conspiracy theories, all of which are totally ridiculous. With just about every picture that NASA produces, this guy has an off the wall theory about it. Sadly the guy does not seem to be able to differentiate reality from absurdity.

Let's look at some of his other pages:

http://www.xenotechresearch.com/marsindx.htm

Fossils on Mars. According to this guy, just about every picture that the rovers send back is a picture of a fossil.

http://www.xenotechresearch.com/support1.htm

Sea Urchins on Mars. Wow, how did NASA miss that (cough)

Hey, remember when NASA said that the solar panels are getting cleaned off by the wind or something? This guy says it's guysers. On a barren planet.

http://www.xenotechresearch.com/geyop122.htm

And where would the water be coming from? Well he has an answer to that, too- from a broken pipe or a running hose he says. Yup, a broken pipe on Mars.

Just browse through his pages and you'll get a pretty good picture of what this guy is all about. While NASA sees rocks and sand, this guy sees dried up leaves, tadpoles, shrimp, squids, etc.

http://www.xenotechresearch.com/mshrimp1.htm

All of his perceptions are wacked, including his perception of the color of the sky on Mars.

PS- back when the landers sent back their first pictures, he claimed to have photographic evidence of rabbits on Mars. Yes, rabbits- on Mars... lol

The rest of his site is crap but the image colours look fine.

It's a simple matter of combining 3 filtered images. I do it all the time.

I'll do it myself right now and see.

Yep, I get the same results. I pulled the 3 filtered images directly off the nasa website.

The real color of the sky is the color you see in NASA's pictures. The color is due to dust in the atmosphere.

What would be in it for NASA to show completely fake looking pictures?

Here is a ton of info on the subject:

http://calspace.ucsd.edu/marsn...istory/sky_color1.html

Another thing to keep in mind for those of you using photoshop to combine the images is that they are not regular RGB images. They use a much wider spectrum than we on Earth use for taking pictures, the blue filter is farther towards UV, and the red filter is closer to infrared.

More info: http://webexhibits.org/causesofcolor/14C.html

http://www.atsnn.com/story/30048.html

Basically the dust in the atmosphere has a lot to do with it.

Actually there is no Moon; it's a space station.

correct me if I'm wrong, but our sky appears blue to us because of the way light refracts through the atmosphere of nitrogen and oxygen (result blue is amplified). what is the atmosphere of mars made up of?

Mainly carbon dioxide.

NASA said that if there was no dust in Mars's atmosphere, the sky would look blue. But unfortunately dust dominates Mars's atmosphere and is the main contributor to light scattering on Mars.

I'm not sure why people think that NASA would want to "hide" blue skies on Mars. If anything, I'd think NASA would want to make Mars look more Earth-like since they depend on public taxes (and therefore public interest) to fund their missions.

More wacko conspiracy theory fun:

http://www.geocities.com/bradguth/Air-Travel.htm

This guy believes that there are lifeforms on Venus. To be more specific, he believes that there is a race of lizard-people that always stay on the dark of the planet by migrating in giant blimps. He's pretty funny because he taunts NASA and other scientists who don't believe that a race of lizard people can permanently stay aloft in giant airships.
