The first time we had riot control training while I was in the Guard, one of the first questions that was asked was can we withdraw from the line and/or stack if we see our own relatives on the other side of the barricade? What do we do if children are involved? How violent are we allowed to be if we're attacked? etc. And then we all mustered out in full riot gear to rehearse some maneuvers with the refs telling us to act like it was the real thing or we'd fail the exercise and have to do it over and over again, with us giggling at each other like girly teenage mall rats in a dressing room because we all looked so "bad ass dangerous and intimidating". Some guys from the unit were acting as agitators, throwing shit (not literally) swearing, taunting, trying to get someone to break the line and charge them. It seemed so surreal that we'd be tasked to do that kind of thing, to tear gas, pepper spray and shoot our friends, neighbors and fellow citizens with bean bags and rubber bullets. OK, well there were a few psychos amongst our midst that would actually enjoy having a few days and nights like that, but still, what with being brought up from childhood that the Aloha Spirit is what binds us all together as Islanders from Hawaii, it just felt like it wasn't the pono (righteous) thing to do.

Well sure, it's whole 'nother thing actually being in the shit, but there's always that question in the back of the mind of how your conscience is going to compel you to behave once you're face to face with a fellow Hawaiian and following orders is as immutable as death. I decided to be as humane as possible up to the point where me and my buddy's lives were imminently at stake. Never know until it actually goes down....

There will be a day, when MAGA's lunacy inspires psychos on the other side of the fence... to see a line of riot police, NG, anyone in uniform... and fly some napalm dropping drones through them.
The world is not ready for what the use of force is going to look like someday.

You need to do some reading and discover why the asylum laws were initially created. Maybe stop listening to Trump

We should only grant asylum to Palestinians fleeing the genocide in Gaza committed by Isreal with American funding and weapons.

All other priorities are rescinded.

Hopefully not. This shit is normie repellent. Kiss 2026 and 2028 goodbye.

Fetterman's a joke and what happened after the protests of 2020? Oh yeah, that's right, Joe Biden won the presidency.

You have a very long history on this forum of making terrible political predictions and everyone here knows it.

Like it or not, fascism isn't defeated with peaceful protests.

So far the protests are relatively small. From hundreds to a few thousands here and there, tiny by LA standards. The population of just LA county is greater than the entire state of New Jersey. If the admin is trying to precipitate something larger they could well get way more than they've bargained for.
Well, politically, Trump wins either way. If the protests escalate, he can claim the Dems are incompetent, condone riots, and LA is a city of lawlessness and crime. Gives him "justification" to escalate the use of force even further, and make California, and Newsome, a potential 2028 candidate look bad. If the violence disappears, he can claim it was due to his (Trump's) intervention, making himself a law and order tough guy.

And all the other parts of the world destabilized by US interventions or by unpleasant regimes supplied with US arms. So, basically, almost everywhere.

(Similar logic applies to all the European former-owners-of-empires, especially the UK, the US's mini-me and side-kick)

It is pretty likely that Fetterman will not survive a credible primary challenge (Lamb) in 28, if he even bothers to run which I am not certain of. His struggles with his mental health and his increasingly erratic behavior are well documented now and certainly a topic of much discussion amongst the support he'd need to make a go of it.

Fetterman holding people to a standard that conservatives dont adhere to, and conservatives win anyways. When will the D party implode so the burn it down crowd gets what they want and we can rebuild without the oligarchy. Seems more likely the earth burns from our abuse first

Fetterman basically taking the normie position and getting slammed for it basically tells you why Dems are polling in the 20s. Sad to see that same level of response here.

Same energy as when Dems proudly claimed that gangs in Denver had ONLY taken over TWO apartment buildings, not four. They still don't get that people don't like this shit. They don't like images of burning cars or stuff being thrown at police, even if it's all isolated to a couple city blocks. Trump is basically still polling in around 45% and above 50% on immigration yet they act like they have him defeated.

I expect a lot more shocked "how did we lose" faces again in 2026 and 2028. Put away the fantasies of GOP cancelling elections - why would they need to? They can easily just win straight up.

The man who screamed at his fellow D senators that they should continue to back Biden instead of pressing him to release the nomination is the paragon of good judgement lol.

The salience of economic performance and perception is much greater than immigration to regular voters. And Trump's numbers on that are cat shit stuffed inside dog shit. Price increases are just starting to hit consumers too.

Insane to compare anything to 2020 at this point, which politically might as well have been decades ago.

Engaging with trolls only lowers one's own mental acuity and sharpness.

Facts are simply.. No part of the right has been "normal" since Eisenhower. If you want to call their craziness.. "normal" okay but that just makes you look like a lunatic!

you're quoting Fetterman of all people and comparing what is happening in LA to just 5 years ago is insane? sorry, but you are just plain ignorant.

The riots are specifically because of Trump. These are his riots.
