Spokane is in the unfashionable conservative side of Washington too, but being a city, is a touch less fascist than the surrounding areas.
Most of the conservatives here, don't have the mental capacity to be full on fascist. The ones I know, are just mindless drones who feed off of Fox News 24/7, like it's a life saving Intravenous drug that they are addicted to. Not realizing, or to stupid to care, that Fox News is sucking out ever last drop of common sense form their already shriveled up brains. Sad part is some of those mindless drones are blood relations. Then you add in the dumbasses wanna be MAGA red necks, over the state line in Idaho, who I get the "pleasure" of working with, and you just want to scream sometimes, Because the pure stupidity of them all, combined with the hate oozing from their pores, can be overwelming at times. Fortunately, I am more of an outspokane, direct "asshole" in person, than I am on this board, so they tend to avoid talking politics with me.

Allowing Fox News to continue unabated with their propaganda was the worst thing to ever happen to US politics.

Turned democracy into the lowest common denominator shitocracy.

It's not solely Fox News, though. The media generally is dominated by right-wing plutocrats, Murdoch being just the most well-known one (in the rare instances where something is outside their control they buy it, cf Twitter and Musk).
It's a fundamental problem with capitalism, and a big part of the reason why that system trends inexorably towards fascism.

It's funny when you think about it. These rich people have enough money to last them GENERATIONS yet they are so afraid to lose it that they go to great lengths to essentially enslave the general population and impose their personal preferences on them to ensure that they stay relevant and powerful forever. It's almost like the typical human brain evolved to favor survival through any means necessary, even if it means resorting to immorality. The fear of death, pain and failure is so great that it turns some people into the worst of humanity.

Instead of politics, why don't world leaders talk about making the world a better place??? Why is it that most major economic powers dream about ruling the rest of the world and imposing their ideals on people from different races and cultural backgrounds? Why do they promote nationalism to a toxic level?

These are things worth discussing in organizations like the United Nations. But what it is, is just a pathetic place where any country can lie about their invasion or acts of war and then go "la la la" covering their ears when other nations try to make them see reason. We live in an absolutely SHIT world and I would love it to bits when it's over, at least for me when I finally meet my death angel. It's just unbearable living in this nonsensical, unfeeling, unsympathetic, callous world.

Nowhere is the futility of making this world better more apparent than in the US. This orange shitstain should have been hanged months ago. Yet he continues to cause chaos and endanger innocent people who just want to put food on the table for their families.

Citizen's United allowed FxX news to do what it has done, among other things. Include the removal of the "Fair Doctrine Act" ( I believe that is what it was called.

Nothing but a Constitutional amendment will remove the damage that CU has caused.

Easier to split the country than do a constitutional amendment.

I mean we haven't realistically gotten one since the 1960's.. (I'm not counting the 27th.. because we somehow got lucky it didn't expire after 7 years)

A constitutional amendment could help, but nothing is really fixed until SCOTUS is reformed. They've already shown they don't give 2 shits about constitutional text (see 14th amendment and the case about insurrectionists being barred from office).

You mean, easier to throw black people and other minorities under the bus than to try to fix things for the better?

The US isn't divided into clear enclaves like the Balkans. And many so-called blue states have substantial conservative populations. And these new countries formed wouldn't be immune to reactionary politics that make up the current Republican party.

The only people that think splitting the country can be some good idea are the ones that think they won't be negatively impacted by it (ie, ending up on the wrong side of the line).

Actually you don't fully understand the things that're happening in real time.

While I live in Howard Beach and it's a pretty red area in a blue city.. they will voluntarily HAPPILY MOVE to a red state.. infact a lot of them have already moved to Florida or Carolina.. that's how my area has seen an influx of new immigrant communities.

About 7 or 8 years ago.. a jogger here.. was raped and killed. The neighborhood looked at me strangely, giving me weird eyes like as I was the killer just because I'm not white.

My point is this: this hate is nothing new.. but with the influx of migrants.. the brown people started hating on new migrants and they voted to kick them out because they feel safer with the whities next door.

And it's this sort of feelings over reason that makes me think the split of the country while not practical will be easier because it's based on feels and America always does shit based on feels rather than with reasoning and practicality.

And Trump has got a method to his madness.. How do you make a WHITE ONLY country? Simply you put roadblocks, cockblocks and bitchslaps everywhere for everyone not white in hopes they leave.

The ones that stay are going to being subjected to far far worse than now.

If Dems take over Congress they could pass a law banning Citizens United

Congress needs the reform, as they are the ones that can actually pull off a CA.

Remember the Mick Romney hot mic? "Corporations are people too my friend" They absolutely are not. They are composed of people that get to vote, but just because the CORP wants to inject millions of dollars into the shadow donations, few are holding heavy sway over the voting populace of the CORP.

It is the money allowed to be donated. The dark money that is allowed to be untraceable, removal of some guardrails, & here we are today. Stuck in stalemate.

Citizen's United needs to be overturned, which WILL require a super majority to even attempt. Only option I see is a Constitutional Amendment restricting the money/lobbying or greasing the wheels, to remove what damage had been done by this one LAW.

EDIT: I it appears I forgot to hit enter earlier.

My apologies to both.

They have not been able to so far. Even with full majority.

IMO it will take CA to fix. No offense.

You no longer have the right to defend yourself and your family inside your own home. No more castle doctrine that allows a person to use lethal force to prevent someone breaking into your home without a warrant, wearing a mask and refusing to identify themselves.

The DOJ memo issued on March 14, 2025, by Attorney General Pam Bondi does authorize ICE to enter homes without judicial warrants

Under Martial Law, we immediately lose our First, Second, Third, Forth, and Fifth Amendment rights. This action clearly negates your Forth Amendment rights. One down, four to go...

I guess, in theory, you still have the right to defend yourself in your home if an unidentified group of masked men are breaking down your front door. If it's a normal home invasion (sic), but if it's Trumps goon squad, hope you have good cover, as they will mag dump their AR's, reload and repeat.

Hospitals in Philadelphia asking immigration questions. Everyone needs to respond...

"How is that question relevant to my treatment?" If it isn't, refuse to answer saying you are violating my rights.
