Maxed out G router?

That's why I didn't get it as my household is primarily Macs.

Routers are OS independent. Not sure which utilities you are talking about but you usually do all the configuring through a web browser. Also forget the RT-56U as it is Ralink chipset based. There is a post right here on the Networking forums comparing the Linksys e4200 and the Netgear WNDR3700. They both seem like fine routers.

Yeah I realize the config utils are web-based (and thus OS independent), but the Asus - at least the RT-56U - has a utility for downloading torrents that's Windows-only. The utility might have other uses, as I was glancing through the PDF manual...

Its firmware restorer for "de-bricking" is also Windows-only.

But the Ralink chipset is no good? I'll let my friend know as he was considering it.

The WNDR3700 doesn't have a BT client built in for downloading, does it?

Ralink used to be a lower end mfg, although it appears they have improved a lot, they still have bad rep. I am just loyal to Broadcom hardware since my WRT54G with Tomato has served me and others so well. I dont know anything about built in BT clients since a use a Windows one. ASUS seems to have a RT-N76 coming soon that is Broadcom based and dual band.
