Actually, probably worst. Even the most basic of computer junkies will be able to spec out a much more effective rig.

I would have had some SCSI drives doing Raid 5, A 3007FP, crossfire X1900XTX, Some core duo variant, a stacker case, watercooling going on, a dvd burner and a few other things, probably would cost significantly less than this stupid rig. While the rig I listed wouldn't be the best, it'd be close to the best and would make a LOT more sense.

Hmm, I wonder whether ATI will have a retaliation to nVidia's 7950GX2. Maybe a X1950GTR2?

Now that in quad-crossfire would be considerable, along with 7950GX2 in quad-SLI.

You'd have to read other issues...they aren't so much fanboys as they point out what works, what doesn't, and how well. Reading what they say in one issue may not be quantified, but the reason for saying it may not be related to the article (in this case, it wasn't)

For example, there was yet another videocard shoot-out in the August issue, and guess what...MaxPC gave ATI the nod in the $200 and $400 categories, and called it a tie in the $350 category. They gave only one round...the $500 category...to nVidia. The benchmark numbers for dual-GPU looked honest as well...with ATI showing significant competition.

However, the price differences of comparible nVidia vs. ATI cards in dual-GPU configs is also significant...they point out how SLI holds its own, usually for at least $100 less.

Does ATI have a single-slot dual-GPU solution? If not, can a Crossfire config at the same price of a 7950 win any benchmarks?

Note also that you won't watch high-quality DVD playback in Crossfire mode (no problem in SLI). And in single-card mode, nVidia has been soundly beating ATI for years in HQV scores.

And when MaxPC points out these issues, that makes them nVidia fanboys for recommending SLI?
