What happened with the Arch Deluxe? Did it cost the company a lot of money?
I am curious.
I wasn't around Mcdonalds at the time.
I was working at McDonalds when I was in HS and college from 86-91.
I only came back in 2002 till now.
From what I gather, the Arch Deluxe was too expensive at the time and it had a lot of calories, 600 per burger.
It cost McDonalds about $100 millions to launch the Arch Deluxe.
This was at a time when all the chains were going through the burger war.
McDonalds downfall started when the Corp convinced everyone to adopt the "Made for you" system ala Wendys.
McDonalds was always #1 in services despite what everybody think of the food.
After changing the system, they were no longer #1 in service and people flock elsewhere.
It cost all the franchise a whole lot of money adopting that system.
Not only with buying all new equipments, the system needs more people to run it too and all of that mean decrease in profits.
It took alot of yrs but McDonalds is finally turning it around.
