Crappy food, crappy new commercials, crappy everything. Maybe if they bring back those wicked bad-@$$ Chicken McNugget commercials from back in the day, then maybe they wouldn't suck so much.

LOL, another day, another McDonalds bashing thread.

Despite with what alot of you think, the "I'm lovin' it" advertising has been very successful.
McDonalds have already copyrighted the phrase "I'm lovin' it" and the jingle that goes right in front of "I'm lovin' it".

McDonalds have seen the biggest increase in sales since the 70'.
This is after 5 ?? consecutive yrs of declining sales.
Something must be working.

A question for Ctrain. I know you are a manager at McDonalds.

What happened with the Arch Deluxe? Did it cost the company a lot of money?

I am curious.

I wasn't around Mcdonalds at the time.
I was working at McDonalds when I was in HS and college from 86-91.
I only came back in 2002 till now.

From what I gather, the Arch Deluxe was too expensive at the time and it had a lot of calories, 600 per burger.
It cost McDonalds about $100 millions to launch the Arch Deluxe.
This was at a time when all the chains were going through the burger war.

McDonalds downfall started when the Corp convinced everyone to adopt the "Made for you" system ala Wendys.
McDonalds was always #1 in services despite what everybody think of the food.
After changing the system, they were no longer #1 in service and people flock elsewhere.
It cost all the franchise a whole lot of money adopting that system.
Not only with buying all new equipments, the system needs more people to run it too and all of that mean decrease in profits.
It took alot of yrs but McDonalds is finally turning it around.

I don't doubt that these commercials work, but I hate them. That "da da da da daaaa,...I'm lovin it" sh_t makes me want to projectile vomit all over the room and light myself on fire. This has to be one of the most annoying jingles ever. BLEH!!

McDonalds Spicy Sandwich = The cheapest, best tasting sandwich.
Although Wendy's Jr Bacon ranks up there too.

eh, i still like their food. lots of people still do like it or not. mcdonalds > burger king wellcept for the fries these days.

mcdonalds doesn't use fillers in their beef like bk. bk gives u more "food" but less quality. like with the breakfast sandwiches, the mcdonalds ones use real eggs, the bk use "egg like stuff". reasonably healthy and no doubt of origin is the mcgrill sandwich, those are alright. course if u want chicken, kfc sandwiches beat em all.

If it's all about the money, then yes it's been successful.

But they've shifted their focus from a child audience, to a ghetto audience. McDonalds was about Ronald McDonald and friends, about playrooms and happy meals. Now it's about being rappin' cool and salads and step monitors and chicken nuggets that change your life overnight. And they've been pulling all the playrooms from their restaurants.

They lost sales that last 5 years because their marketing department stopped caring about the kids. The last five years I did not see one good Ronald McDonald commerical. They had a monopoly on kids, but this new marketing focus is going to backlash them, kids aren't going to care anymore.

On the other hand, Burker King has always targeted the adults - food that tastes good for us older than 13. And with the new sourdough hamburgers, it's even better. And Wendys has always targeted the more health concious by offering great salads, potatoes, chili, and lean hamburgers.

What I see is McDonalds being desperate and trying to put a foot into two different marketing focuses. By losing the child audience and having such a bad reputation about people getting obese off their food - I don't think this will last long.
