You can get to 53 or maybe even 54 on a first playthrough btw, but it involves doing most of the Mako fights on foot instead.

There's no ME2 bonus for any level above 50 though.

Is the level cap at 30 on ME2? I don't seem to be gaining any more levels, even on am imported character though.

Yes, the cap is 30.

And I was wrong: level 60 import gives you 2 more bonus levels (level 50 import starts at 3, 60 at 5) and 10k more of each of the resources (regular import with the "Rich" achievement gets you 50k each).

Not on your very first playthrough as getting to level 50 unlocks levels 51-60 as part of the achievement.

I just finished a little bit ago, and I clocked in at just under 22 hours total play time. That said, I didn't really do any side quests nor did I scan for resources much because it made my hand sore scanning planets with a mouse. I didn't have one crash either. It looked excellent and ran super smooth.

I loved it. Great game and now I can't wait for the third one.

I'm also glad I played this on PC this time around since the shooter elements were implemented. It looked great, and I can handle aiming and combat much better with a KBM than a controller.

I really enjoyed the game, but the lack of weapons to purchase, as well as armor, was pretty disappointing.

Do I really need to play ME1 to enjoy this? I really want to play this game, but just wondering if it is worth buying ME1? There is a video that recaps ME1, have not watched it just in case I should play the first one...

Yes, definitely.

I'm definitely enjoying it so far. And thanks for the spoiler tags. Combat feels much better in every way now. ME1 felt like it wanted to be more RPG than shooter, but it wasn't very in-depth. I like how this just gives you powers - it was really all upgrading did in ME1 anyway. And ME2 runs and looks a million times better.

Not that ME2 wouldn't be enjoyable, but "experiencing" the events in ME1 serves to really immerse you in to the story and characters (and it's a great game...despite ME2's superiority in certain areas).

This is about the only thing I thought was weak about the game. I played as a soldier, so I had a fairly good selection of weapons, but really missed the chance the get better armor. Even the armor upgrades seemed half baked at best. Also wish you could have sold some of the resources to get more cash to purchase upgrades.
Overall a really fun game though. Cant wait to see how my decisions in this game affect ME3.

30 hours for everything without skipping dialogue?

Guess I need to stop falling asleep when I'm scanning as I've done the last two nights.

That crap takes me from wide-awake to dead asleep in less than 5 minutes.

yeah, i dont see how anyone gets this done under 30 hours, let alone 40. I'm doing all quests, scanning all planets, getting all upgrades (except the med bay), and I've just gone through the portal to the collector homeworld. I'm probably at about 35 hours now and hopefully have another 5 or so ahead of me. I seem to be missing someone from my crew though since there is an empty space on the far left on the roster screen.

Where do I get that person?

You get him as you continue the quest missions. Also, if you complete the game with a character from ME1, you get 50,000 of each resource in following play throughs, which make life a lot easier and shorter.

I think he is missing Zaeed, who is DLC. You pick him up at the dock in Omega. If he just went through the portal then he must already have Legion

I don't have Legion and I don't know who Zaeed DLC is. Not in front of my home pc right now so I might not have the names down right.

POSSIBLE SPOILER BELOW

I have completed all of the quests in my journal and have spoken with all the people on the ship who wanted to talk to me. Last thing to do was go through the portal to the collectors. I then fought the occulus inside the ship and destroyed it and crashed. We just started making a group to go inside the collector base.

Wait so you went and got the Reaper IFF but didn't get Legion?
I don't think that's possible.

If you bought the game you can download Zaeed from the Cerberus network.

I don't think you have to activate him. Probably don't have to release Grunt either.

I think you have to release grunt, one time I was just going to skip releasing him, it kept bugging me about him and I didn't get the horizon quest until after I let him out. However, it might have been other things that released the horizon quest, but it seemed like I had to have the first set of dossiers done before I could move on.

Just a funny part

I think taking legion onto the citadel was the funniest moment for me. I can't remember exactly what the customs lady said, but its not important.
Customs inspector: we do this so the geth don't infiltrate the station
Legion: geth do not infiltrate,
Customs inspector: sir you should leave your synthetic assistant at home next time,
legion: geth do not intentionally infiltrate

He may not have activated legion. After you get the intact geth, if you turn him on, he is a group member.

Yeah I deliberately took him onto the citadel for lol's. Bioware really should have prevented players from doing that. I've also read that you can take him onto the quarian ship.

You can get some interesting interactions with him, yes.

While it's not a good idea to do so due to timing, if you take him on Tali's recruitment mission the Quarian marine gets a bit worked up, and Tali tries to shoot him.

Her loyalty mission has a similar scene in the intro, where they go to shoot Legion, but Shepard talks them out of it and he gets more or less ignored after that. Rather sad, really - she's on trial for sending back not completely broken Geth parts, and you show up with a walking, talking live one. That should pretty much get her instantly convicted.

Also, if you take him to the Citadel and go back to talk to Anderson about the Geth, after the line about the geth not being bogeymen anymore, he says "That's probably why your trophy bot hasn't caused a stampede."

and irony++ if you wait to do the blacklisted Asari quest on the citadel til you have Legion. "Take my word for it, they aren't geth infiltrators. I can tell by the lack of flashlight heads." with legion's flashlight head in the background.

I like the way they implemented powers in this game; I find myself using biotic and tech powers much more often than I did in ME1 (I kinda left that up to my squadmates and focused on sharpshooting with the pistol, even though I was a Vanguard). It seems kind of tedious how you have to wait to do loyalty missions for your squadmates here, and there sure are a helluva lot of them. Otherwise, character development here, typical of a bioware game, is frickin sweet. There's a ton of great dialogue for all the characters.

Planet scanning wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. You don't really need to scan that many planets, as you can only use so many resources to upgrade stuff (around 35k EZ, 200k for each other resource). I've probably spent more time than I should have scanning planets, though. A high DPI mouse REALLY helps, especially after you get the speed upgrade.

Story length seems good so far - I've gotten all the characters (minus the last one, Lxgxxn), but I've only done one loyalty mission, and I haven't quite gotten to the point of no return yet
just got the IFF quest but gonna postpone that until after Tali's loyalty mission
. So far I've spent 20 hours on the game, looks like I'll probably end up around 40 hours for a full completed game. I'm probably going to do a second run-through as well, because my imported character was lv49 (ugh), and I wanted to romance both Tali and Miranda. :hmm:

ok, so thats who Legion is. I just haven't activated him yet, but I did throw him into the ship. That clears a lot up.

Thx.
