The devs said it will stay up till August 7th, after that don't count on it, though they aren't 100% sure yet.

It does sound like they're really copying the WoT model, seeing how much money it made - WoT also sales 'garage slots' for cash, with premium gift tanks getting a free slot...

The founder mech is just the prime version of a mech that you can buy in game. Yes, that 25% bonus is a promotion to buy now along with the rest of the founders packs. We don't know if they do plan to offer mechs in the future with bonus attached to them or not and if they do we obviously have no idea of the cost.

I never played WoT, but a lot of people have on the MWO forums and have made comparisons to both of their models and said a lot of stuff is similar but there are differences (what I don't know since I haven't played WoT)

should not be a surprise, everything is copied. wow rakes in as a premium mmo and they start showing up like weeds, lotro makes it as a "free" mmo and a bunch switch, wot pulls in a profit and prepares to launch a second service so you see more of that type.

Correct. There may be a bonus later there may not. If there is a bonus it could be more, same, or less. The devs have not said word one about it. If they do give a bonus I'm guessing they won't make it more than the founders deal. Otherwise if they did it would probably upset those who supported the game early on.

I have to say, that 25% will likely be extremely useful for regular players. You get the same in 800 hours instead of 1000.

Not sure if you are being sarcastic or not, but I can tell you from uh playing my friends beta that the bonus will be very useful. A lot of people are planning to use their founders mechs to grind ingame money to buy the stuff they want on their other mechs.

Well these games are businesses. Not to mention some of them actually couldn't bring in enough players while on the Pay to Play model like Aion and then switch over to the micro transaction model.

I wasn't being sarcastic. I think a 25% bonus will be extremely useful. There's nothing like that in WoT, but there is in other MMO's.

curious: how did you all get into the battletech universe? many of you seem very, very knowledgeable about the lore

I used to play it with Pen&Papir, with a few friends.
One of my friends older brother was the game master (he took it seriously and did a great job).

I still have some dice, and books laying around.
Even some of the maps.

Man Im looking forwards to this game. Ive seen some more youtube videos and Im more convinced now (than at first) that they ll do justice to the game.


I really like what theyre purposeing to do to ballance the game.

I can see;

Chock points
Vantage points (jumpjets)

Area's to avoid (heat related) or to go get controll of (water to cool down mech)
(some might design mechs, to hide from thermal cams, in hot spots, on maps with little visablity)

The range vs targeting (dependency on scouting), scout vs scout combat.

The speed factor, be little and quick, or big and slow.
ei. someone whos 90% long range weapons, who cant fight effective at close range, runs into a smaller quicker mech (thats optimised for close range), he cant outrun, thats his equal or better at close range.


The diversity, really makes this differnt than just another first person shooter game.
The strategic and teamwork aspects, will make this game alot of fun.

stupid crash to desktops. was rocking out in an Awesome, sitting up on a hill sniping down at the enemy engaged with other mechs from my team. Im happily blasting my 3 PPC's, then a screen flicker, then im looking at my desktop.



that kinda killed my momentum and hung it up for the night. 4 more paychecks till i can get my 7850! Stuid artificial limits on my spending!

1024x768 on low still chops like hell when around a lot of action.

I have a Battletech board game that I played with a friend in the early 90's. I still have it downstairs. Painted a few of the figures, but I didnt use the right paint and it has all chipped off since. It was just a very interesting game, and I liked reading about it probably more than playing it.

I spent a lot of time just designing new Mechs with the rules of the game. I never got a chance to actually use most of them, since the friend I played the game with didn't live close by and I was in my early teens.

TT is a ton of fun. but soooooooooooooooo long. I dont have time for it, not even playing on the MekWars servers.

i really wish someone would make a battleforce version for the PC complete with salvage, campaigns and the whole 9 yards.

Phenom 2 x2... cant remember the speed off the top of my head. And i hear 4 cores is far better... so i'll be budgeting for a new one. not that expensive. Already upped my ram to 8gigs, but that was dirt cheap.

in fact, my videocard is the only thing that hasnt been upgraded in 5 years.
