and where in the god damned hell is an option to save configurations and swap between them easily? Having 3 K2's in my stable is just taking up space because it takes so long to swap configs between matches.

guessing if you have the parts on hand it might be doable, but I just buy a second or third mech and leave them setup in the config I like

Gauss rifles are simply vastly superior to the AC/20 right now. When the Ultra AC/20 comes out, that may change since it will have a RIDICULOUS damage per second, but the range, lack of heat, higher ammo capacity, and accuracy of the Gauss rifle easily trumps the extra 5 damage the AC/20 provides.

Has anyone gotten the side buttons on their Logitech mouse to work in this? I have keyboard keys assigned on my G5 and they don't register.

thats my point. i have 3 K2s set up differently. i shouldnt need to do that. there just needs to be a button to swap between configs if you have the parts. and it should show you what components you need for the config if you dont have them.

I have on my G500, using the following

left - group 1
right - group 2
page up - group 3
page down - group 4

though to do any real setup on the mice you need to ensure the logitech software is installed first.

I just tried again. The MWO control remap page will not recognize the mouse buttons if they are assigned a keyboard button. Nor will the game register the command if I use the keyboard to remap the key. Do you have any of the game detections options ticked in the Logitech software?

OK, is there a "beginner's guide" or anything to this game? I got invited to the beta and while I played a good bit of MW back in the day I have absolutely zero clue what's going on. Objectives, weapon groups, targeting, etc...there's zero info (that I can find) on how to do the basics.

Objectives is to either kill the other team or stand in their capture point until their bar drains. By targeting I'm guessing you're not meaning hot keys since those are easy to look up (r targets nearest enemy). There's some set of rules for being able to acquire targets too so get used to not having mechs pointed out to you forthright. The circle is the target for your arms and the crosshair that follows it is the target for your torso if that's what you're talking about. For weapon groups you use the arrow buttons to select the weapon/group you want it in and right control to toggle it into/out of the group. Needs to be done in game still as far as I know.

no real guide as the game is still in beta.

Objectives currently are team deathmatch (ie: last team standing) with the option to cap.

weapon groups are setup as you want them to be, so no real guide on that. Just have to read the settings page to find the current keys assigned.

Targeting I will give as a "needs more information". Though I think in one of the receint updates targeting is now done automatically if you keep the cross hairs on a targe long enough (greater distance = longer time to kick in). Otherwise I think it is "r" to target the current target under your cross hairs.

other thing to be aware of is that the "+" is where your arm based weapons are pointing, and the "o" is where the head/torso/leg weapons are pointing. or something like that anyway. So basically need to pay attention to where the weapons are placed in your mech.

Log into the website and you'll have access to the Beta forum. There are very helpful threads there.

Read the stickies on the forums, plenty of guides and Developer created youtube videos to guide new players.

Why when I move my mouse do my weapon groups flash all over the place? It looks like it's toggling them...

Just added a feature to give an indication of whether whatever is under your targetting recticle is in range for a specific weapon or not. That's what you see going on there.

I'm finding it difficult playing the beta, it seems there's no "reason" to play it yet.
MPBT had planetary conquest in beta so your actions had meaning. This is just team deathmatch right now. I'm going to wait until they come up with the next MAJOR revision that will include more stuff (they said they're perfecting the Lone Wolf experience right now).

BTW, I don't know about others but I really don't like the graphics as they are now. The thing that makes WoT fun for me is that fact that you can clearly see your enemies but the maps enable tactical gameplay, with both long range sniping and short range brawls.

In MWO you don't see shit beyond 300 meters, it is all BLURLAND and there's no decent zoom-in. Plus everything is colored a different shade of brown. This is a shame because the cryengine can do great, life-like, colorful graphics (without the damn long range blur). It takes all the fun out.

it has been mentioned that the developers are more interested in getting balance right currently than worry about any sort of missions.

The next major one is the actual release, so a while yet. And the lone wolf as I understand it is not a mission system, it is so you do not need to join a group / clan/ region. not a solo mission.

re graphics, each to there own. No idea if release will see much of a change as the game is beta and far from being a "what to expect at rease". but then if you do not like it, no reason to hang around, might as well go play something you find fun.

Zoom can suck a little, but then most weapons at that range are so inaccurate as to be pointless shooting them anyway. Though talking browns and bluring, I am guessing you are refering to the volcanic map with the heat shimmer going on? the others are clear. Besides, there is heat vision if you want to see better at range (at the expence of terain visability).

I mentioned that before they even started beta, the artificially limited visibility of the previous games was something they needed to overcome, hasn't been done yet.
