Media conversion software

I have a ton of videos in iTunes that I want to watch in Vista Media Center. I tried MCETunes, which works ok for music, but really sucks when it comes to videos. So, I'd like to get them converted to WMVs. I realize there will be a loss of quality, but that doesn't really bother me.

What I really want is something like VisualHub for windows, but it seems like its been impossible to find. (I want it for windows so I can take advantage of my quad-core...). AVIVO video converter looks like it would work, but it doesn't seem to work on anything above or below the X1k series, is that right? (I have 2x3850s)

I have been trying Digital Media Converter, but its single threaded and doesn't work with all the videos (its really picky about codecs and seems pretty buggy), although the quality of the conversion seems ok.

I'd like it if the software were free, but I'm ok with payed for stuff.

Thanks in advance...

Maybe Windows Media Encoder 9 Series? It's a freebie from Microsoft's download center, and it's multicore-aware. Nothing to lose...

Are you just trying to watch on the computer or through an extender like the 360? If just the computer, you could try installing the k-lite full codec pack, which enables adding more filetypes to the WMP library, which may allow media center to pick them up as well...but I'm not sure.

These aren't purchased videos right?

Not purchased, ripped from DVD using Handbrake on the mac. Just on the computer, maybe I'll try the k-lite. I hd been using ffdshow, which I thought was doing something similar, but it messed up the mynetflix plugin which I use often.

I'll check out Super and Microsoft's WME, thanks for the ideas!
