I need some hardware suggestions, but first a story
I just got my xbox from Dell .... Yay!
Its all connected and online, HD goodness .... Yay!
And then I tried sharing my media from my XP box .... Not so yay
The XP box came to a crawl when trying to add 200+ gigs worth of movies, pictures and music.
Since I use my XP box primarily for gaming I figured its time to build a budget box with a load of hard drive space, and prolly put Vista Home Premium on it and use the xbox as an extender.
I haven't followed the Hardware "scene" for quite some time now, so I need help.
Here is what I'm looking at building:
I have a question about RAID too, is it worth it for the type of box that I'm planning on building?

Budget .... I really don't want to go overboard, maybe under 500-600.

- x64 proc (don't really care about Intel or AMD, which ever is better bag for buck)
- 4 gigs of RAM (nothing special here, but I figure I load it up for Vista)
- a good motherboard with built in everything (video, nic, sound)
- don't really care about HD brand, but I would like quality hard drives
