Like you said, I don't know if we're getting the whole truth here. Especially to celebrities, something like this just does not happen.

Holy sh!t that's horrible...and that hospital's gonna have a ball with this one, I'm sure. I hope they get what they deserve (if they really do deserve anything).

Daddy, I got asthama! "Well here, take some Robitussin!" Daddy, I got cancer! "Here, take some Robitussin!" Daddy, I broke my leg! "Here, put some Robitussin on it... that's right, let the Robitesum sink in there."

Actually, they do. The reason it happened is because even many doctors have the same attitude that you do, that it can't happen. And so they don't take the case seriously and so it does happen.

btw, a similar thing almost happened to me when I was 17. Believe it or not, I almost died from a misdiagnosed case of severe strep throat. Sounds hard to believe, but it's true. I had Kaiser though, and God knows they'd rather see a patient die than spend the money for a simple throat culture...

And let's replace daddy with doctor, right? Or did you miss that part where it was his father doing this.

It's called malpractice, morons. In Canada, she would have died long before she could have even gotten in to see the doctor who would have misdiagnosed her as well.

Dextromethorphan is a terrible chemical. Ibuprofen is da debbil. But what's wrong with Acetaminophen? It's not a cure all, and really has no use for someone with congested lungs.

Ironically, in this instance, Dextromethorphan might have saved her. lol

What would I want to tell you?

You're bringing your political agenda into a thread that has nothing to do with the quality of the US Healthcare System, especially considering she was a decently well-off celebrity, with access to all sorts of treatments.

It was a simple case of malpractice, which happens in every country, every single day.

Troll elsewhere.

More likely he's sick of the way you and SuperDave take every tragedy you find and callously and pathetically try to turn it into someway to advance your political agenda.

Hypothetical example: parents leave unattended baby next to swimming pool, baby falls in and drowns. SuperTool response, "US healthcare in action. The parents are not to blame, the US system is." SuperDave response, "The sky is falling! The sky is falling!":roll:

Don't speak out your ass. Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant. Won't save her life.

Actually, they do. The reason it happened is because even many doctors have the same attitude that you do, that it can't happen. And so they don't take the case seriously and so it does happen.

I'm one of the last people to scream malpractice. I understand that there are some things that you just can't predict or diagnose. But when somebody comes in a second time saying they aren't feeling better and a doctor just blows it off without doing any xrays or further tests (especially when it's somebody that can afford those!) he dropped the ball.

I'm certainly not a doctor and I definitely don't know everything about this particular incident. But there just isn't any reason why a person who could fully afford to pay for a proper diagnosis was misdiagnosed not once but twice for something that can be fairly successfully treated if detected. Throwing out the "M" word seems acceptable in this case.

Again...going under the assumption of what is written in that article.

Oh really. There was another thread about a UK girl who got misdiagnosed, and all the conservatives were blaming it on socialized healthcare. And it has everything to do with the quality of the US healthcare. If she had access to all sorts of treatments and the best healthcare and got misdiagnosed twice and died, what healthcare is an average shmuck off the street getting?

Fixed?

Dextromethorphan is an antitussive dissociative. It is the dextro isomer of Racemethorphan, which at doses of 2mg/kg relaxes lung passages much like amphetamines.

Link to said thread, and what does that have to do with me?

It tells you malpractice happens, regardless of where you are in the world, what kind of doctor you visit, or how much money you have. I guess people in the UK, Canada, or anywhere else in the world never make mistakes, just in the US?

I guess even the best never make mistakes, right?

Ah yes. Because the actions of one doctor represent the actions of the other 3/4 of a MILLION practicing ones.
