I had read the story about the 12 year fraud on that game, but I hadn't heard of anything recent. Is there still bullshittery going on?
I'm "the glass is 3/4 empty" kind of guy so....undoubtedly.

Haven't seen anything else.

yeah, that's an old, but very real story. McDonald's hasn't run Monopoly in how many years? 5 or more?

They are never going to run it as "Monopoly" again, but it essentially is the same game, but contracted to a different game company.

Now...I've noticed that Safeway runs some type of Monopoly game. I wonder if it is coming from the same company? AFAIK, though, all of the corruption through the McDonald's Monopoly game came through the one individual that was in charge of delivering the game pieces.

I find that my urge to buy lottery tickets tracks much more strongly with job satisfaction than with the size of the jackpot. So far, I haven't quit and I haven't bought but one ticket (office pool many years ago) but I'm thinking about buying a ticket again.

So who is running the ATOT pool? I don't want to be the only bum here who's still working when the rest of ATOT hits it big.

Safeway's Monopoly is Monopoly in name/licensing only. It's an entirely different game. Pieces are products and you need a large number of them per property. It's complex and unfun to play.

So is there a group buy or what?

None as far as I know. Vivi was the one that did it last time but he is not available right now.

I am in with my office pool and will get a ticket or two of my own before Friday. The jackpot will go over 900 million USD by then for sure.

I believe 1 / 272,000,000, and 100 / 272,000,000*

So if I bought 100 tickets, my odds are 1 in 2,720,000?

And if I bought 1 million tickets, my odds are 1 in 272?

Just checking to see if my math is correct.

So who is running the ATOT pool? I don't want to be the only bum here who's still working when the rest of ATOT hits it big.

I thought we were prohibited from gambling on AT forums. Is that still true?

technically, yes, I think. (I was wrong on the number for megamillions though--I think it is still 265,000,000? something like that). But that all depends if each individual ticket is its own unique number, of course. You're not going to systematically create your own numbers to insure that with such a buy-in, so you are just hoping that quick pick does it for you.

for 100 tickets, you'd have essentially no chance of duplicates. 1,000,000 tickets, you probably have a couple of duplicates using quick pick. But hey--what if you duplicate the jackpot numbers?

There was some story, years ago, about a very large buy-in--FL, I think--where dozens and dozens of people did try to buy up nearly every combination in one of the big state lottos. It kinda works if the jackpot is high enough....but then what happens, as did to those morons, Ms Gotschweiller buying her first ever lotto ticket on her way from the hairdressers also hit the jackpot, so now she gets half of the pool and those other saps are now on the hook for at least 10s of thousands each.

I bought my single $2 ticket. I was pretty close to asking for two tickets but caught myself and only bought one. You never know when that $2 will come in handy.

I'm gonna grab a few tickets after work. Some people are doing a group buy at work but the entry fee is $20 and I only have $10 (and I was too lazy to find an ATM around here). I WANT IT ALL TO MYSELF ANYWAY. Sons of bitches.

It's weird how much I enjoy gambling at the casino, but I've never bought a lotto ticket. I've never even walked out the door net positive for the night at a casino either. I always keep going until the ATM stops letting me pull out money. I guess I'm just after the thrill.

I could go be that guy in line I suppose. Since I've never bought a ticket, I would have to stand at the counter asking how the whole thing works and have the cashier walk me through the entire process. I can already sense the anger growing behind me as someone's ice cream melts.
