For some reason the SubTitle menu is on by default on the one I got. How can I permanently remove this. Even when I turn it off manually it still does the Subtitles for sounds etc. (birds chirping) etc.

Really annoying.

Subtitle menu key on remote should toggle through choices until you get to off. Or can do it in setup.

Everyone gettting the long filename version firmware, and I only one who got old "build date", non 'suffix B', with the 8 character limit on MP3 display?

I go to setup everytime and set it to off and I have changed it during the movie with the subtitle button, but I should not have to turn it off. It should be turned off by default.

It shouldnt be on unless I turn it on.

Now I have the dreaded 'key lock on' msg. on screen, when player refuses to open tray with open button, or pushing off button, etc, at player. No key lock button on remote, or anything in the setup to shut it off, this 'suffix B' unit is going back. I may have got player cheap, AR, but I want it to perform all the functions correctly, and it doesnt. In some other thread someone had the 'key lock on' problem, and got it off by pushing the title menu key repeatedly, didnt work for me.

Got mine easy as pie. Pm for 110% to $28.20 and than $5 coupon. Also got $5 gift card because at pickup they took more than 5 min. to get it. Rebate came out as $10 so $8 plus tax. They were so nice.

try turning the subtitles off before putting in a movie. i had the same problem as you, but i think that's how i got subtitles off. just keep fiddling with it. they can be turned off.

Hmm.. all the coupons I searched for require me to use a sears charge card. Anybody know what I need to search for exactly?

It may depend on the disc's encoding, possibly, about whether the subtitles default to on or off. Have you tried that same disc in some alternative players?

I tried 2 different movies. Both FOX movies though... any coincidence? Just tried The Village and it didnt do it.

Thanks to FW for pointing out that this deal is back on until May 2nd. Just went down today and picked one up with PM, coupon, rebate, and xtra warranty for $17 out the door. Going back tomorrow for two more.

t mine w/ pm of HD printot and 5$ off 20 coupowithout the credit card no questions. and yes salesman was supprised when 10$ rebate popped out .
I also wnt for the 4$ yr in store warranty 27- 10 rebate 17$ for dvd player w/ 2 yr warranty NICE thankx OP

I just picked up the DVD player as a gift.

They price matched no problem but refused to let me use the 5 off 25 coupon.

After it rang up, it printed out the rebate but the sales clerk refused to give me the 10 dollar rebate saying that since he price matched, the rebate was void.

I asked, if it was void, why did it print out?

He said no still and wouldnt give it to me... the guy was just being a jerk I think. I didnt think it was worth arguing over, perhaps I should have...

Still a bargan buy at 32.29 w/ 2 year warranty inc tax.

Happy, but would probably not go back to sears again

I believe you can print the rebate from online..but you need a sales persons inititals or something..maybe you can go back and get a manager to sign off on the form..and say a few words about the employee that refused the rebate...
