Memory for a Duron

What speed memory do you need to go along with a Duron? I know the faster the better, but what is the minimum?

Actually the memory all depends on the motherboard, not the processor. The current motherboards for the Duron support PC-100 and PC-133.

The only mobos that support the AMD Duron all use the VIA KT133 chipset. The KT133 Northbridge supports memory asynchronously from the main FSB. The memory speed can be FSB = 100, FSB+PCI = 133 or FSB-PCI which is 66. Obviously 133 offers the best performance.

Apparently, Athlon and Duron systems can be picky about RAM. It's never a mistake to pay a little more for quality, particularly with memory. Crucial, Corsair, and Mushkin are highly regarded in general. Buying pc133 2-2-2 memory advertised as suitable for Athlon systems from a reputable vendor is the safe (if pricey) bet.
