Memory for Haswell build

I'm still on socket 775, so I need to build a new system when Haswell arrives.

I'll be in US in March, so I was planning to pick up some cheap memory compared to my local prices.

I assume any DDR3 should work, however I'm strongly considering the red GSkill Ares 1600 16GB that Newegg has on sale for $71.99. Would that be a wise choice ?

I'll use the machine for development, so Firefox (many tabs, 1GB used), other browsers, apache, photoshop etc. will be running. 8GB should be enough, but if I want to or need to use virtual machines, I assume 16GB would be better, and the price difference between 8GB and 16GB is not that much.

Has intel released the memory spec for haswell? Is it still the same as Sandy\Ivy?

Probably not 1.35v. 1.5v is the JEDEC standard, after all.

Having googled a little bit myself about voltage, my guess would be 1.5v in desktop version. While it is not guaranteed until the boards are released, it wouldn't make sense to go to 1.35v either.

Don't expect a Enthusiast grade Haswell until Q1 2014. The fastest single chip in 2013 will be the Ivy Bridge E cpu's 6core to 12core. 2013 is for cheap haswells and mobile haswelll especially 4core 8 thread,, In 2014 youll see haswell 6 core to 8 core.

Ivy Bridge E with 8 core desktop version will pown Howard ,, grrr.. I mean haswell sighs, My rig is ready for a drop in CPU upgarde ,,,, Ill grab the 8 core , the 12 core is 1500 prolly,,, gg and gl
