Hope someone can help me out. Ive had several weeks of crashes in EverQuest2. Finally decided to see what was the problem. Im thinking its the memory that is causing the problem.
Ok so i run prime95, get rounding errors. Call crucial and have them send me 2 new mem sticks out. Now i have 4 here with me.
I try all combinations and still get errors running prime95.
borrow a floppy drive and put memtest86 on it. starts running from 108k to 1024M get errors around 70% pass.
How do i test which memory stick is bad? Can i test from 512M to 1024M and say that this is the second memory stick? Can i run a dual channel cpu with only 1 memory stick?
This is my system:
msi k8n neo2 platinum
amd 3800+
crucial ballistic memory (from their website: 2.5-4-4-8 v2.8)
raptor 74G
ati 9800pro
480 watt power source.
floppy drive
I dont have any thing else in the computer. Also memtest says the memory is running at: 2-3-3-8, is this a problem since crucial has it as 2.5-4-4-8?
Please let me know what additional information would be helpful to trouble shoot this problem. Thank you for any all help.
