Memory question

I am considering a memory upgrade from my 256MB DDR 400.

From the point of view of overall system performance.. should I go for 1g of Samsung DDR 400 CAS 2.5 or 3 ram or Dual channel 2x256 CAS 2 ram or just add another generic 256mb DDR 400 and maybe run it at dual channel?

I am not too much concerned about speed of the ram itself, but the overall performance of my system..

i believe your mobo supports dual channel...if that is the case go with 2X512MB of the Samsung CAS 2.5 or similar (HyperX, Corsair).

If you're board can run stable at 1GB, i would prefer the 1GB myself. There is performance increase in running dual channel mode, but I don't think that out weights running 1GB of RAM.


Most would say 512 mb is enough for today's needs. Can you afford two 512mb sticks?
