MemTest86 Question

I've noticed that there is two sites with two differnet top level revisions of MEMTEST86. There's one on memtest.org which has a version 1.65 as of 10/05 and there is one on memtest86.com with a version 3.2 as of 11/04. Are they both the same? Which one should be used?

I always get mine from memtest.org. It's memtest+ on that sight, the most recent version on the other site(memtest86.com) is almost 2 years old and not the + version.

Definately go with the latest version -- Memtest+ v1.65

Thanks guys. As you can tell I"m a little new to this game. They have three versions (compiled bootable ISO, compiled bootable binary and compiled EXE). I'm assuming depending on the version one could test from different scenarios. Any suggestions which one?

I'd just download the ISO and burn it to a CD. Then just reboot with the CD in the drive (make sure you've got the drive as bootable in the BIOS) and Memtest will start automatically.

So then you run memtest outside of Windows? In other words it's not like prime95 that runs in the OS?

Yes, it's not a windows application. Just boot up to the Memtest86+ CD and let 'er rip for a few hours at least.
