Merom in HP dv9207?

Hey all,

I read about the HP dv9207 laptop on here and I picked one up on sale yesterday at CompUSA. Anyway, it only has a Core Duo in it.

That's fine for now, but I was wondering about the possibility of upgrading to a Merom sometime down the road. Has anyone tried this or know if it's possible? I read that Meroms are pin-compatible with Yonahs and in theory should work, but I haven't been able to find any info from anyone who's done it. And of course, HP wouldn't confirm whether it was possible or not.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. If it works, great. If not, this was still a great upgrade to my old laptop.

You can upgrade to a C2D, as long as you stick with the 533/667MHz FSB. No 800MHz FSB C2D will work. Just make sure you have the latest BIOS from HP.

Do you have a source for this? I have a 9207dv too.... where can I get more info on this?

And just the fact that almost all Core Duo notebooks were upgradeable to Core 2 Duo processors that use the same pin-out (533 or 633MHz FSB) as their Yonah counterparts.
