Yes.

3 best choices you could have made.

you really muct be crazy to think Black is better then Lightning or Kill em all

kill em all is just so raw is outstanding, lightning is still raw but a better album lyricially and musicially,

I really don't care for Ride the Lightning, but I love the Black album. My preference I guess would be:

Kill em all
Master of Puppets
Justice
Black
Lightning

after seeing the documentary, i wouldn't be shocked if metallica breaks up, or at least James leave the band.

Some Kind of Monster should have given you the opposite impression. It seems they are alot stronger and have much more commaraderie now.

Nope...I gave up on them when they got pissed at Napster...Their old stuff is kicks serious butt, so don't get me wrong I used to like them, but then they turned into patsy's for the music industry (RIAA).
wow, read much ? I won't even get into the details, it's really not worth it if you're just going to be lazy and ignorant about it.

It's a shame Mustaine couldn't get a grip - I can't imagine how awesome they would be with him.
Interesting thought, I wonder where Metallica would be today if he had stayed, maybe they'd still be making good music.
Of course, as thedarkwolf said, if he would have, we wouldn't have Megadeth, that would suck

Who cares about Mustaine? I'm wondering where would Metallica be if Cliff Burton was still alive - they'd still be making some good sh!t as opposed to the post-black album crap they put out.

And Bob Rock is a huge part of the problem.

Ding ding ding! He basically turned the St. Anger writing sessions into group Mad Libs. WTH was he thinking?

IMO, Puppets > Black > Ride the Lightning > Kill em All > Justice > Load > Reload

I liked parts of them all, and compared to a lot of the stuff out then Load and Reload were still very good.

I think he meant Bob Rock changed the pre-black album boys to what you see today. He came on for TBA and stuck.

But I personally don't think he is really responsible for changing them... I think the guys just wanted to do different things, because they could. Look at S&M, look at the bluesy feel to Load stuff... and then you have hardcore (that's what it sounds like to me) St. Anger. If Bob Rock were really responsible, they'd have stuck to one thing throughout his reign. IMO, the guys just wanted to explore, musically. No fear for failure.

I think I may be the only metallica fan that actually like Garage Inc., except Tuesdays Gone. Man, they butchered that. The Misfits covers were pretty damn good though.

It seems like he points them into whatever seems to be the "popular" direction at the time. It seems like they all want to explore but they listen to Rock's suggestions since he's considered to be responsible for transforming them from an underground metal band into the biggest rock show in the world.

You know you should retire when you're a heavy metal band and you perform a song with Ja Rule.
