Life expectancy was that low because of averaging. Lot of miscarriages and deaths of children due to diseases. Many adults lived to 50s or 60s, and wasn't uncommon (though not as common as now) for people to live longer than that.

Girls getting hitched at 13 was pretty normal, yes. That had to do more with social maturity level being high for both sexes, due to the fact that education was simpler for most people (apprenticeship, not years and years of formal education). Even then, 13 year old girls might have married men 5 to 10 years older. And morality applies regardless of the culture. It's not right for 9 year olds to get married.

I'm not speaking against Muhammad or Islam, but against general misconceptions. Same applies to individuals and cults practicing child marriages in the United States and elsewhere.
