Microsoft Image Composer - Dithering Issues

I know this is an old application, but I cannot find an image editor that does what IC does, and ICs ease of use is great.

However I have noticed after switching to Vista that it will dither a true color image, such as a .bmp or .jpg down to 256 color even when "True Color" is selected.

This did not happen on XP, so what I'm thinking maybe is its looking for a registry entry maybe that would report what to default to or something, i am totally unsure.

Does anyone who uses Image Composer have this issue? If so how do you fix it?

I have tried all the compatibility modes and searching in its config files for something, Google is not helping much either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried running Image Composer in XP compatibility mode?
