I just want to know why you wouldn't get it fixed for free when we were telling you too.

You have lost the right to complain by not taking MS up on a free offer.

I don't know who told you that you have to wait forever on the phone, but I have called 3 times in the past week for different issues and have got through in about 2-3 minutes every time including the time it takes to navigate the menus.

But, but, but....OP "heard" about it on the Internet. Therefore it must be true!!!!

I just can't fathom why people can be so helpless without "looking something up on the Internet".

Back in the day you would just pick up the phone, call, 5-10 minutes out of your day and problem solved. There was a thread earlier today "OMG!!!! My debit card has a charge I didn't authorize!" Gee, OP picked up the phone and did something about it and it was resolved within minutes rather than spend countless hours on the Internet trying to figure out what to do.

No whats wrong with society is everything is done half assed. Companies put out ****** products and then a lot of the time aren't held accountable for it. I've read many threads that Microsoft was trying to charge people 140 dollars to fix their consoles that they broke. I stated that if they did that I'm going to be pissed, thats not whining. I haven't spent countless hours trying to figure out what to do. I know exactly what to do, and it will get taken care of one way or another. I have a right to be pissed because I was FORCED to do an update that ruined my console. I have 3 rented HD DVD movies that cant be watched now, this has cost me time and money. Doesn't matter if its a little or a lot, its my money and I expect to get what I pay for. I didnt buy this console for headaches, I bought it for fun.

It's just a game man. I love my 360, but if it broke it wouldn't be the end of my world. MS will fix it and life will go on, believe it or not.

Everything on the internet is true.....

I like how "reading a few threads" is a definitive answer to the OP.

I dont understand why CVSIN even started a rant.

Really does seem like a case of bad day.

Dead everything, just replace it? That's great, for people who have money coming out their ass... I'd be pissed if I had to pay to ship their expensive, and busted ass piece of crap back to them too!

WARRANTYs.... learn them.. use them... KNOW them..

my whole point for blasting this emo whiner is that MS has publically stated on every game news site known to man that ALL launch 360s got a years warranty now and you dont pay for crap...
and what the fvck is the deal with emailing them? wtf do you expect them to do over email...
dont you even read xbox.com it doesnt say email it says CALL.. 1800-4my-xbox so they can get your info and ship you a box or a shipping label..

if the OP had quit whining long enough to do that he could of had his 360 back in 4 days...

call get a prepaid shipping label and gone to UPS and sent it to them without waiting for the box..
Mine and a coworkers died and both were back in 4 days from time of death..

If he got it fixed that fast, he wouldn't be able to be in here still complaining about MS and spreading lies he read in "a few threads"

CVSiN: Go the the official 360 thread. If you think this guy is dumb there is a guy there that instead of getting it fixed under warranty, opened it up to fix it himself. This is after I told him about 10 times MS would fix it for free.

The OP has a perfectly reasonable complaint, the fact that Microsoft will replace some POS products doesn't mean it was ok to sell them in the first place.

there is nothing wrong with the 360... the initial launch ones had cooling issues and MS addressed that and is replacing them for free..
whats the problem..

Did I say there would be anything wrong with criticizing any other company/product that didn't do what it's supposed to do ?

Excuse me, but replacing a defective product is not the same thing as not selling a defective product in the first place.

And there is obviously something wrong with the 360, otherwise they wouldn't have to replace them, would they ?

Maybe they've fixed the underlying problem, maybe they haven't. Nobody will know the answer to that for several years. My own opinion is MS is trying to sell a computer as if it was a normal household appliance, and they have not designed it to be nearly rugged or bullet-proof enough for the job.

Because of the form factor it is probably less reliable than a pc, and pcs aren't reliable enough to be considered appliances anyway.

And because the user has no control over the operating system and updates, there's less ability to control the software environment than there is with a normal pc. Microsoft wants complete control over the software in the 360, and with that control comes complete responsibility for the consequences of any mistakes they make.

Excuse me, but first run items of *everything* have some initial quality issues. I don't care what product it is. It's not selling a defective product, otherwise you should be b1tching about every product that's ever been made being defective. Period.

I agree with you. The way to solve problems, in descending order:

Face to face
Via telephone
Via instant message program
Via email/snail mail

Yesterday I had UPS screw up a tracking number I had for a package. I sent out my vid card to a fellow ATer, and he emailed me saying that the tracking # wasn't working. Well, called my local UPS store, got things straightened out in 5 minutes.

Two days ago, my debit card charges were messed up on the internet. Called skybank, and the lady let me know the system was reporting both a transaction and pretransaction, which it usually doesn't do, but my recent charges made sense.

Moral of the story, if you're upset about something, take care of it, in the quickest manner you can. You're just gonna be more pissed off if you don't get an email within a day.
