link here!

I did a quick search and there seems to be nothing concerning today's release so i decided to give everyone a heads-up.

I'm not going to try it myself as I'm quite happy with my current settings but I'm sure a lot of people will be willing to try this out so go ahead and tell us what you think!

Peace!

yawn...seems kinda redundant.

I've been beta testing it for a while now (close to two months? i think?). I like it. What more can I say? The firewall has some of the best auto detection I've seen. And clicking those damn "block" "unblock" pop ups can get annoying with some of the competition. It's worth a shot. It's free?

unlike AntiSpyware i'm not sure how long this will remain free for but its worth a shot for the time being...

as far as its features go:
- antivirus ... i use AVG resident scanner and AntiVir as a standalone backup scanner... i'm fine!
- firewall ... i have a hardware firewall and i used ZoneAlarm Free for a month and it caught absolutely nothing so I'm confident that my hardware firewall + crappy WXPSP2 firewall does the trick!
- backup and restore ... i use system restore and Cobian Backup (freeware) and that fulfills all my needs
- PC maintenance ... thanks, but no thanks! Diskeeper, Macecraft RegCleaner, CrapCleaner etc do the trick!

therefore at least for my needs apart from Diskeeper, everything else is free and excellent so there's no need for me to use this!

As far as I know this is going to be a subscription service once it enters production. No idea on pricing though, guess $20-$40/year (competitive with AV vendor offerings).

I've been beta testing it for a month now and I have to say that I really like it. I was surprised when it found 6 infected files on my computer that my Norton (Fully updates def) didnt find. Who knows how long I had those files on my machine.. All I know is that my computer was running better (not that it ran bad before). Its easy to use and effective.
I know I shouldnt have both Onecare and my Norton installed and runnig at the same time but I'm still hesitant to use only Onecare for now...

I just got owned with it.

I was installing it on my home pc via windows remote connect (rdp) while at work and then bounced my pc.

Duh, firewall blocks the rdp port......

I'll fix it when i get home.... sigh.

Negative on that one, won't be trying it. The AntiSpyware as junk. Spybot caught 6 different items that AntiSpyware didn't catch.

It didn't seem to be scanning email.... soooo I uninstalled it.

As for AntiSpyware... any antispyware product seems like a crapshoot on what they can detect. Each seems to find something the others didn't. *shrug* Of course antispyware seems more geared on not letting something trying to install in the first place not detection per se.

Although PC-Cillin and Kaspersky seem to have a lock on the most able "A/V catchers", OneCare seems able, although slooowww in A/V search & destroy mode.
I liked the one stop fits all and the O/S check, FireWall and the defragger all-in-one.
However, M$ has a long ways to go in the A/V dept.
