Once you go ergo/natural you never go back.
kinda true.
Unfortunatly its not true in my case. I started using the MS Natural Elite when it first came out 6 years or whenever ago. I also thought the changes from the 1st gen to the 2nd gen were great (mainly making it smaller and lighter). I own one 1st gen and two 2nd gens. For the most part I consider the 2nd gen model to be the greatest wired keyboard made...But why can't they make a wireless version?!
I recently decided to get a wireless Kb/mouse set up. I really wish they made a wireless version of the MS Natural Elite. If they did, I would have gotten one. As it is all the MS wireless keyboards and most of the ones from other makers are full of clunky extra buttons I neither need nor want. Clutter and/or a large foot print are not acceptable for me personally.
So I ended up getting a diNovo Media Desktop. Its been abit of a hassle to get used to typing on it, but in general its a great Kb/mouse combo. Its got a small footprint and is very streamlined. And it has very few extra buttons and the few it does have are great, mainly the little media player controls.
Having said that, I'll still use the MS Natural Elite for any wired set up. And if MS started making a Natural Elite wireless version I would probably buy it.
