Have you had your blood pressure monitored? For me it was high BP that gives me migranes and its bad for you to have high BP as well.

I just started getting them. From what the doctor tells me, you can get them at any time in your life. Sometimes you never find the trigger, and sometimes there just really isn't one..you will just get them. My first one was weird because I'm one that gets the weird visual crap, or auras before I get mine. I start to see all kinds of weird crap floating around, and then I lose almost all of my peripheral vision. This lasts for about 15 minutes, then it just abruptly goes away. About 15 minutes after that, the "headache" starts.

It's almost a misnomer to call them headaches. I do get a ultra severe headache, but the other effects are worse. I start to get the chills, then I get hot and sweaty, then back to the chills. I start breathing rapidly in short breaths and my heart races, and it's all I can do to even stand or say three words. After about 4 or 5 hours, it abruptly goes away.

The doctor prescribed me Maxalt, but I prefer not to take any of those medicines as they do all sorts of weird sh!t to the blood vessels in your brain. The worst part was all three happened when I was at work, and I had no choice but to sit them out. I got two in the span of 3 weeks, then nothing for almost 3 months...then I got my third one. I guess I'm "lucky" in the fact that I know when they are coming about an hour beforehand with the visual stuff. My last one I made it through by taking 800mg of Advil when I started getting the visual deal.

You've got to love that with these migraine meds they have no idea exactly how they work...

this is the same way it works for a LOT of people. I wonder why they can't figure out the cause if this exact process occurs in so many people.

docs still have no idea what REALLY causes them (after the trigger). These migraine meds are just suppressing the pain "signal" like any other paid medication. Don't forget to take the meds as soon as you get the aura. It works best that way. I once was able to sit through an entire movie at the theatre after doing this right at the first sign. Zomig is my friend. It goes with me everywhere.

Dude, mine are EXACTLY like that.
sparklies.....lose periph vision, then the pain, nausea, etc. I've had to visit the emergency room twice. I haven't had them for years, till I got one just sitting in front of the PC a couple weeks ago. When I used to get them, there was nothing to take either.

I haven't had any in years, till couple weeks ago. If mine start up again, I'll go see about getting some of these new meds.

One of the worst parts about a migraine, is after you finally get rid of it, you are on pins and needles about what triggered it in the first place. I would usually be a wreck for a couple weeks after the migraine, worrying about what caused it.

it's common to see auras and other types of vision loss before a migraine. I hate that feeling
