Migrating To New Computer

Moving from one machine to another and wonder what software tool folks find most useful for migrating applications, data, etc ?

Norton Ghost if you want an image of your HD.
There's also another program but I forgot the name of it.

Not sure I want an image of the HD...I'm hoping there is something that will allow me to move only the programs, files, etc that I really need.

Get a cheap portable HD, and put the files you want on it or a DVD.

You might have to reinstall some of the programs if they were on a CD (or DVD or from an Install file). Copying the folder from "Program Files" doesn't get eveyrthing (reg entries, etc)

XP has a built in File and Settings Transfer wizard.

True enough, but it won't migrate applications.

Your pratically asking it to do the impossible. You can't really migrate a entire program without reinstalling it. The only other option would be to use something like Norton Ghost to image the entire hard drive.
