Minimizing battlefield 2 problem

Whenever i minimize battlefield 2 on my Dual CPU rig, i bring it back to full screen and the colors are... weird. If im loading a map there will be rainbow like colors surrounding the buttons at the top, and if im already on the map well i just get a big blue screen, can hear the sounds, move about, get shot, but cant see a thing. It isnt crashed either as i can still minimize it and end the process.

Anyone else have this issue?

For the record i removed a TI4400 and replaced it with a 9800 PRO, and did it all properly, driver cleaner & everything. However i never ran BF2 whilest the rig had the Ti4400 in it, so i cant really blame the 9800, although ive had no problems at all with the card in my old gaming rig.

Well I run it fullscreen and can minimize and bring it up easily without issue. The only thing I've noticed is that, on my dual cpu rig, alt-tabbing out of and back into the game happens extremely fast, which is nice. No color distortion. 7800GT.

Not for me since i have only 512 mb of ECC ram, ill get 1gb but just not anytime soon. This rig wasent designed for gaming and started life as a pentium II heh. Its come a long way

Anyone else have insight? Somone with a 9800? Is there a test i can do to see if my GPU is dying?

I should probably note my old card was a 9800 pro and I could alt-tab out of BF2 fine also. Try running it in a window and see if that works? Try alt-tabbing out of other games also.

Ok, ill try that other games idea, and then i might try putting the TI 4400 back in. The 9800 isnt THAT much better than it anyways, should still run battlefield 2, i hope.

I have gone from a 6600 gt to a 6800 gt to a 7800gs and they all had that problem.

i have this problem as well (min and alt-tabbing). I have to exit the game and run it again. I rarely do this because, well, it takes damn FOREVER to minimize and alt-tab to another program.

<--- has 6600GT. Despite what everyone says, I love the 1.3 patch because it gave me a significant FPS boost. But, more crashes to desktop, boo

Instead, simply rename the relevant files in your \Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Movies\ directory to something else (e.g. rename the Intro.bik to Intro.backup). The files to rename are: Dice.bik, EA.bik, Intro.bik, Legal.bik and Welcome.bik. This will mean the intro movies are all skipped as BF2 starts to load. If you find the movies playing in the background of the Login screen and Settings screens annoying, you can also rename the menu.bik and menu_loggedin.bik to something else as well.

Removing all movies from the game can save over 250MB of data being loaded up during the start of the game and being placed into memory - this will help smooth your gameplay particularly for those with less RAM. If for any reason you experience any problems with the game after renaming the movies, simply rename them back to their original names.
