Just hit 50 yesterday. I couldn't get into a heroic dungeon group yesterday, but I did finish the raid weekly and get those sweet purple pants for killing Baron whoever.

What server do you play on?

T1 dungeons need 50 focus/hit for DPS classes and 50 toughness for the tanks. Simply run CC/AP once or twice until everybody meets this mark, and you can also hit it with runes on the AH that give focus, toughness, and hit. If you are still having trouble, pick an easy expert like IT. If you are still having trouble, get the tank a little more toughness. Also make sure that you have an off-healer, most healers are not geared/skilled enough to solo heal experts.

AP and CC are basically T0 though, so run those until everybody meets the benchmark for T1.

Corthana, I think...

Pretty much everyone I've been grouping with has the 50 hit, toughness, focus, etc. We did fairly well this past weekend. finished all of the dungeons we started.

I switched to a new DPS build and that seems to be better than what I had before.

I hit 50 this weekend too . I also completed Expert IT, LH, CF and KB. Loot drops were not nice to me. I did them all with 3-4 people and we need to tackle FAE next then it is on to T2s!

I think I need a better Chloro build than Chloro/Archon though, that might be good for raids but the Archon abilities seem risky and unnecessary in a small group environment. If I'm the only healer and I don't have time to debuff the boss, why do I want to risk debuffing myself and possibly die.

For those tweaking you soul builds, how much are they charging each time you want to reset your points?

Once you hit 50, and not counting the cost to buy a new role, the cost is quite reasonable at about 50gp per reset. Honestly, at lvl 50, that's not a huge cost.

Ott@Amardis.. guardian Rogue.. lvl 40 right now, up from 35 two days ago. Joined a nice big guild with a whole bunch of 50's who run all sorts of end game stuff constantly. Will have no problems finding groups once I do get there.

Yes, Rift is good fun. There are usually invasions and things going on in each zone that you can group up with other people to fight against.

Interestingly the groups are created automatically when you are near an invasion - there is no need to manually create it yourself.

I'd say it's 'worth it', but IMO WoW might be preferable for many. Depends what kind of MMO you want, partly.

Nope, both are exactly the same. I bought Rift from Steam because it was slightly cheaper but you don't actually need Steam to play Rift once it is installed.

My guild just entered the first raid instance (Greenscale's Blight). Although we were unsuccessful in our attempts to bring down the first boss, I have to say it was the most fun I've had in an instance in any MMO, even though we never brought him down. The frenetic pace of that encounter along with all the different things going on made it quite an enjoyable fight. I can only hope that the rest of the raid bosses are just as entertaining!

FWIW I'm coming around to this game. Once I accepted the formula, and most importantly found something I liked playing, I am starting to feel like its going to be worthwhile staying.

I still have a unopened WoW battlechest sitting by my monitor. Its like a old friend asking me to come back and play, but I suppose for the meantime I'm with the new cool kid on the block.

If I buy Rift on Amazon can I link it to my Steam account?

Not sure but there really is no advantage to doing so - Rift has it's own launcher and automatic patching system. Loading Rift from Steam merely launches the Rift Launcher - it does nothing else like keep it up to date.

L40 isn't too late for you to reroll on a higher population server. Granted, it's tedious to do the same leveling quests again (unless you switch factions) but at least you'll know what to do and that will help you save time.

I understand your frustration about low populations though. It's a little hard for me to tell what's going on with my server (Estrael, one of the NA RP servers), but I have a sneaking suspicion that its population has plateaued or is starting to decline. This makes it hard to find a guild that is ready to start raiding, which I'd like to do, or even find groups for expert dungeons. In retrospect, I would have suffered through the long logon queues at launch and stuck with my original choice of the Faeblight server.

This isn't a "oh my god the game is dying" post, because I don't think that's true. I think it's just that the new shininess wore off for a lot of people who played the game in beta and on launch. Summertime weather isn't helping either. Regardless, Trion has stated that they will implement some sort of solution (allowing transfers or outright merging servers), but offered no real details. Maybe we'll find out more after the deploy Patch 1.2 on or around May 10th.

Rift 60 day game cards are $20.26 on Amazon. I wonder if the price is reflecting lack of demand for them? 10 bucks a month is pretty cheap.

I went ahead and picked it up this morning and played for about an hour or so. Made a high elf necro. Man I miss being a necro (from my EQ days). WoW severely disappointed me in that department.

60 day time card down to $18.78 on Amazon. That's pretty amazing. Or scary if they are being discounted so heavily due to lack of sales.
