I had a ton of Free XP, so I decided to skip the T71 and T69 and just unlocked the T54E1. Not sure if either the T71 or T69 are worth having as a fun tank? Any opinions? If so, I'll go try them out.

Oh man, why did you skip those 2 tanks!?!

They're both an absolute blast to play. The t71 is one of my favorite tanks in the whole game, on par with the dearly departed t-50-2. Arguably one of the most dangerous lights around.

The T69 I like a lot less and never fully adjusted to the playstyle (4 round autoloader not enough for me i guess) but its a pretty good tank overall. It's just expensive.

You don't have to pay to play the game. The game is completely free, 0 dollars.

However I enjoyed it enough that I wouldn't mind shelling out money to level up faster, earn more credits, or play a premium tank which earns me more credits. At the peak of my interest I was spending at least 12-13 hours a week on this game. I also bought my friend some gold so we can play together. Something I don't really get to do in person since we're separated by about 2000 miles of land and water, and its still cheaper than going to the bar.

$8 for almost a full week's worth of entertainment doesn't seem all that much to me. You can easily spend $0 and still enjoy the game the way I did, I just chose to support the developers so they can continue improving the game.

I understand it is free-to-play. I've been playing for 2 months with hundreds of games under my belt (especially during 5x specials) and have nothing invested but my time. I really enjoy the game but (for some reason) am having a problem with accepting the fact that someone would pay so much to pay to play a "free" PC game.

The business model is obviously working though ...

Spending money to buy gold/premium tanks basically shortens the grind (both credits and for free exp) so they can play the tanks they want.

And there are a LOT of terrible terrible grinds, especially at higher levels. You only have a few hundred games so you probably aren't up to tier 7-8 grinds yet, but some of those stock tanks are fucking awful and complete nightmares and they have to fight monster tanks like the E100, JagdE100, OBJ268, etc.

Once you hit tier 7-8 you'll understand why people want to spend money on premium accounts.

oh yea i must have skipped over the part where he passed on the T71, i kept my T71 because it's quick, scouts well and is annoying as shit pecking you for 150 every 2 seconds hahaha.

Well, I skipped the T71 because I already went up the BatChat line and kept much AMX 13 90. I didn't figure the T71 would be that much different, and I already have a skilled crew in my 13 90. I thought that if I wanted to play a scout autoloader, why not just load up my 13 90?

I skipped the T69 because it just looked like similar to the T54E1, and I was itching to g ed t to the T57. I am enjoying the T54E1. Fun little tank.

But like I said, if either of those tanks are fun in and of themselves, I'll go back and buy them.

I had both (T71 and 13-90) and they're very different tanks. The 13-90 is not what I'd call a scout, its a support gun platform that can easily pick off weakened tanks. I drove that tank very aggressively as an assassin of sorts, one full volley can easily kill 2-3 weakened tanks. That tank does a LOT of damage and is very dangerous, but the handling, aiming and everything just didn't jive well with my playstyle.

T71 is a truer light tank. The gun feels small and nimble and it reloads darn fast for an autoloader, so you're tempted to pick lots of small shots at everything. It's a lot more nimble and scouts "better" than the 13-90. It also aims almost as fast as it reloads so you can dump without waiting for it to aim in like the 13-90, which lets you dump your clip more accurately.

I don't have the 54e1 so I can't tell you how different it is from the 69 though. It just looks bigger and less mobile and has a weird gun that almost screams "I need HEAT rounds to function properly".

t69>t54e1 imo
t69 is quicker, has way better camo and i did really well in it compared to the T54e1
but was WAY more expensive to run than the t54e1 as i fired pure gold

...

pay so much???

when i go out to play golf it last 18 holes 4-5 hours and cost around 100$

now we are talking 10$ or so for a solid 40 hours+ to play tanks, and you say so much ?

whatever

I'm sure there are things you spend your money on that we would find equally as bewildering. The reasons to spend money have been made pretty clear... It's just worth it to some people. Let it go.

My guess is that you don't have any Tier VIII+ tanks?

It's very difficult to have a positive income above Tier VIII without premium, and the time spend grinding money and XP for new tanks would be eons.

I did about 1900 damage in my T-71 yesterday in a tier 10 game, walked away with over 1k exp with nonpremium account, so that was kinda nice.

Ok, so the T57 Heavy is a beast. Highly recommended. Unfortunately I could barely afford it so I'm running it with Binos and a Camo Net as I had extra of those. Had enough for gun laying drive and that's it. Will be even better when I get vertical stabilizer and vents.

I'm close to getting the FV215b, so I might be able to play it before it gets the kick.

The other day a good player said that the FV215b, properly played, was a very good tank. He went on to do 5k damage and get a top gun in that game. He did say it is a bit finicky to learn though and that it isn't easy to be good at it.

I already has the 183, so I guess driving and manage to get an aim will be similar. Only now people will not necessarily cover as fast as possible if they see the barrel aimed at them.

Nice. My T57 heavy cost me 6.1 million and now i have no money.

Looking in tank viewer, the 215b is the ultimate side scraper unless you know it's one weak point, which isn't obvious. Took me a minute to find it. Otherwise most values are 330mm or more for the most part. The weak point is only 115.

I got my E100, first tier 10 for me, over the weekend; I believe there was a sale too, 10%? So it didn't quite cost me the full 6.1M. I had to play a few games just to load the tank with ammo and retrain my E75 crew to the E100. Then grind 64k XP for the 150mm gun and buy that... and ammo.

Now, I'm just playing for the 15k damage bonus and my money making mid-tier tanks that I do well in. I got several tanks that I'm done with and ready for the next tier but lack the coins. ISU-152 to Obj. 704. T29 to T32. Hummel to GW Panther. Stug IIIG to JagPz IV. I want to check out KV-2 and just 30k xp from IS-7.

FV304, I just can't get over how much fun that guy is.

Nice, congrats.

The E100 is a great tank. Maybe not the top Tier X, but it is solid. Can be frustrating to play though until you get the hang of it. Remember that your ammo has horrible pen for a Tier X (speaking about the 150mm here, which you'll want to run), so weak spots and lower plate only. Nice alpha but slow reload so you want to pen every time you fire.

The armor is good, but flat in area, such as the front of the turret. So never point your turret at the enemy unless you are about to shoot. An angled turret will be very hard to pen by just about anyone, whereas there are a lot of things that can pen it if you are pointing right at them and the face is flat.

The KV-2 is one of my favorite tanks. What's also fun about that tank is that it doesn't care too much if it gets into a Tier VIII battle as it can still do a lot of damage (just have to be more careful not to get shot). There have been plenty of Tier VIII battles where I've been the top damage dealer.

I don't have an FV304 yet. It does look like a lot of fun from replays, but it is highly annoying to play against.

So I was grinding and farming credits last weekend with the x5 battles. Sunday evening I bought three tier 10 tanks (T62a, M110E5, and M48 Patton). Went from 15.5 million credits to 64k. LOL I haven't been this low on credits in a long long time. Back up to 1.3 million credits again but I haven't been playing much on the week days since. The tanks are sitting in garage with no crews (old crews will be trained/transfer over) or equipment. The farming begins again. LOL

Edit: Damn tanks were on sale too. 15% off

Just played a couple of rounds in the 215 and it's quite difficult, because even though it's a tier X heavy tank it has virtually no hull armor so you have to play it like a support/sniper tank always being 2nd in line. With the rear mounted turret combined with no hull armor it's very difficult to engage in city battles. Looking forward to the Chieftain.

With a rear mounted turret it has great sidescraping ability. Cities should be it's best environment.
