So I decided to give War Thunder Ground Forces a try, I must say, the damage model/system that they use is amazing. Instead of the health bars that WoT uses WT uses a penetration/crew system. You literally have to find the weak spots on each tank and try to pen it while also trying to kill crew members or modules. You get to see in bullet time where your shell went and what it did once it hit the tank. I am quite impressed, it kind of gives you a breath of fresh air compared to the standard pen/health system WoT uses.
A frustration I have is lag.
Sometimes I'm playing a match and when anything happens, especially explosions but moving the view in to shoot also, and little hangs from a half second to a few seconds will happen. When it does I'll check the game's claims and my fps might be 50fps or 75fps, and ping is usually 25fps.
Rarely during the hangs those numbers get bad, but not usually.
I suspect it might have something to do with my PC slowing for disk activity, but not sure how to fix that short of buying a bigger SSD and putting it on that.
It doesn't always happen, but it's frequent enough. Rebooting seems to help.
It might be related to another issue, that just after my PC has been running a while I can see similar delays in Rift sometimes, load times get much longer, etc.
Could be virtual memory swapping (I disable it if 8+GB RAM) and texture loading. What is your gfx mem's size?A frustration I have is lag.

Your ping is 25fps or 25ms? What are your system specs?
Finally got the top gun on Tigerr I. That is a fun tank to play.
Tiger I isn't a bad tank. It has great DPM with the top gun. You just have to not play it as a typical heavy. It doesn't have the armor for that. Play it as a long range sniper and it'll do well.

I don't think system specs are the main issue, since it's fine much of the time. AMD 965 II, 4870 1GB I think, 4GB RAM.

Sometimes I feel like it is going really well, and then suddenly I wonder why I'm over powered by the number of enemies. Then I look at the score board....
It may very well be your graphics card, that is if you are gaming at 1080p. I used a gtx 260 a few months ago and it just couldn't handle the game. It would freeze and choke every now and then. I popped a 270x in and its been smooth sailing ever since (the gtx 260 and 4870 are similar).
Is the Aufklärungspanzer the worst tank in the game? It is bulky, low armor and no firepower. Besides the D.W. 2 this has to be the worst / most boring tank to play. I only have 33% win rate in this crap mobile. Is it worth grinding to the next tier or should I rather spend time going for new US scout line. Currently I have 50k in the t71.

I've always played any Heavy as a front line role. It doesn't mean stay in the open to tank hits. It just means being present where the action is so you contribute to the match from the start of the battle. Long range sniper playstyle often fail to contribute when its most important, early game, to decide the match.
Tiger I in particular is a great front-line tank, you can put 2-3 shells into enemies for 1 of theirs so always trade with those ratios, never trade 1:1 due to lower alpha. With its DPM + HP, its a major threat to all tanks it faces.
I hate nothing more than to see a bunch of heavies sitting in the back with the TD's pretending to do anything remotely useful for their team. And then they wonder why we lose at the end of the game.
I used to do that early on, my early Tiger I performance was attrocious, ~1200 damage per game, 50% win-rate. Then more recently I decided to play it full-time front line, 70% win-rate and ~1900 damage per game.
There's so little love for the old German TDs with all the new stuff lately, a lot of folks have the false believe its obsolete but I recently went up that line, its definitely still awesome.
JP2 and Jagtiger are among the best Tanks in tier I've driven, and I got a lot of games for the ISU & Obj 704 (played as long range support) along with other nation TDs. JP2 & JT both excel when played "in-your-face" style, hull-down and hold. Wiggle while reloading to get miracle bounces.
It's advantage is ROF for tier, you need to put out 2 shells and take 1 in return. As long as that happens, you'll win.
