BUT I'm in Nome, AK

you guys seem to not have bought the WD 320gb HD that they had on sale.

They said in-stock but they took a week to ship only because i sent them an angry email.

some people had to wait even longer.

I ordered stuff for my new rig from monarch and newegg and monarch just came one day after newegg plus they had to build my combo mobo/processor.

So it wasn't much difference.

I obviously need to frequent here more often.

We have grown by leaps and bounds over the past few months (Not that we were small to begin with) and in all honesty there are growing pains to be experienced with that. Due to the growth, you haven't even seen me around here too much of late. I do apologize for this, and plan to frequent more often. We do care tremendously for our customers, and want to make the situation right whenever possible. If any of you have any problems, concerns, praise, or what have you, please never hesitate to contact me. Emailing me directly is usually the best way to get ahold of me, and my email is joe@monarchcomputer.com

I can't comment on Monarch but I love newegg to death, and you won't see me going anywhere else soon. I just got my 250 GB and BF2 retail on the third day. Day 1-order processed, Day 2-..., Day 3-received via UPS 3-day. An RMA I had with newegg was also flawless.

I personally would not be upset if an item I ordered didn't ship until two or three days later. It used to take some companies a few weeks to mail items out back when I started ordering on the internet (back in 1996).

That being said however, in todays market with companies like Newegg and Zipzoomfly who always seem to ship same or next day, I am starting to get a little spoiled.

Monarch really needs to address some of these concerns lately, and I know that the company is growing, but people will only accept that reason for a while. After that most will just think the company is disorganized.

I want to once again state that I have had good experiences ordering from Monarch.

So have I. CPU, mobo and video card from the rig in sig all from moarch about 3 months ago.

All the items shipped next day. That however was before all the problems started IIRC.

A lot of the time Monarch has great prices, but I don't have any confidence in them anymore. I'd rather pay more at an online vendor that ships reliably and doesn't avoid questions when you have them. Too many inexplicable delays in order processing, and my one RMA experience was a nightmare. I haven't even considered them as a vendor for over 6 months.

I shot off an e-mail to MonarchJoe about an hour ago. He looked into my order and sent me a very prompt reply saying it was set to go out this evening. Assuming it does, it's nice to know guys like Joe are still at Monarch.

The only thing I would order from Monarch would be OCZ products. That way, if something goes wrong, you can get an RMA directly through OCZ, who has EXCELLENT customer support.

Not to be too negative, but they have stated MANY times that a product is "set to ship today", or "has already shipped", only for the customer to find out a day or 2 later that it is still yet to ship.

Best of luck.

I'm glad you mentioned this because I placed an order for 2 GB of OCZ Platinum modules the other day, but had to cancel the order. They were actually pretty good about cancelling the order & not charging my credit card, even after they said it was too late to stop the charge.

It really sucks to see this type of feedback on a company that used to provide healthy competition against NewEgg. As a consumer, it's always nice to see the competition fighting for our business.

When one of the primary competitors throws its reputation down the drain, they hand the ball over to their competition & make our decision easier. That's actually unfortunate for everyone in this industry.

I've ordered many, many things from monarch in the past, and even very recently. I've never had a problem with them, and always enjoyed fed-ex ground service as the standard (and usually free-shipping). excellent customer service....

I've bought many times from them, since it's one of the few US stores that can ship in Canada while still having decent shipping costs. I never had any bad experiences. On probably 6 or 7 orders, I had to RMA some RAM only 1 time, and everything went just fine. Just my 2 cents.

I guess monarch got so popular with the home-brew techies that it can't keep up its orders. THats sad, I guess the Tax I save from them isn't worth it now.

I like Monarch only because of their low prices and lack of tax. (ZZF and NewEgg both charge taxes in CA) Their shipping has always been slow, but the only time it was unbearably so was when I was building my system back in January. Everything I ordered was supposedly in stock, except for one item, which clearly said "expected ship time 3-4 days" (everything else said 2-3 days) and they took TWO FREAKING WEEKS to ship ONLY the NON-BACKORDERED parts of my order. WTF? I e-mailed them about the backordered part once I saw it in stock, which was 4 days after my other items were shipped. They assured me it would ship that night. The backordered part was finally shipped 3 days later. 3 days after they CONFIRMED that the product was in stock, 3 days after they TOLD me they'd ship it that night, they shipped my backorder,. Some customer service there. This was about 9 months ago, supposedly before the growing pains, or one would think. Of course, this all occurred after my last computer died and I needed something to replace it. And yes, I understand it was still the holiday season, but that's still no excuse for these kinds of delays. (And no notifications of any kind, either, I had to continually e-mail them to get things moving. The only time I was ever notified of my actual order status was when I got a tracking number. Hmph.)

Despite all this, I ordered some OCZ memory and a WD SATA 16MB Buffer HD from them fairly recently. They took longer than average to ship, but the prices were cheaper than the other e-tailers I mentioned. I wasn't in a hurry this time around, so that was fine by me. We'll see how well the experience rounds out, as I'm waiting on a rebate from them now.

you understand that they have to do this right? i believe they also charge tax in tennessee and new jersey (?) because they have warehouses there. monarch is in georgia which for now leaves you exempt from paying taxes, altho the government at one point was trying to change that.

Meh. Monarch is solid in my book. As to da egg, I order parts from a dozen or more e-tailers, and Newegg has slipped down the list the last 12 months. I always seem to find a better deal somewhere else, and that often includes choosing true 2 day shipping from another merchant.

I don't see why you have to go to Best Buy either. There are dozens of other reputable choices both locally and on the internet.

All too typical for Monarch. They are in the business of shipping defective systems at the 11th hour. They take your money immediately, wait until the 30th day to ship, and then ship defective hardware. This means you won't see your system for at least 2 months from purchase date due to the need for RMA. And if it is working at that point, you're lucky.

One of these days Monarch is going to screw over the WRONG person and have an absolute PR nightmare on their hands.

Come to think of it, Monarch needs a "sucks" or "sux" website. It looks like they already own monarchcomputersucks.com but monarchcomputersux.com is available.... Hmmmm....
