I like Monarch only because of their low prices and lack of tax. (ZZF and NewEgg both charge taxes in CA) Their shipping has always been slow, but the only time it was unbearably so was when I was building my system back in January. Everything I ordered was supposedly in stock, except for one item, which clearly said "expected ship time 3-4 days" (everything else said 2-3 days) and they took TWO FREAKING WEEKS to ship ONLY the NON-BACKORDERED parts of my order. WTF? I e-mailed them about the backordered part once I saw it in stock, which was 4 days after my other items were shipped. They assured me it would ship that night. The backordered part was finally shipped 3 days later. 3 days after they CONFIRMED that the product was in stock, 3 days after they TOLD me they'd ship it that night, they shipped my backorder,. Some customer service there. This was about 9 months ago, supposedly before the growing pains, or one would think. Of course, this all occurred after my last computer died and I needed something to replace it. And yes, I understand it was still the holiday season, but that's still no excuse for these kinds of delays. (And no notifications of any kind, either, I had to continually e-mail them to get things moving. The only time I was ever notified of my actual order status was when I got a tracking number. Hmph.)
Despite all this, I ordered some OCZ memory and a WD SATA 16MB Buffer HD from them fairly recently. They took longer than average to ship, but the prices were cheaper than the other e-tailers I mentioned. I wasn't in a hurry this time around, so that was fine by me. We'll see how well the experience rounds out, as I'm waiting on a rebate from them now.
