Monarch and Newegg both have warehouses in CA, which is why they charge taxes. I know this. Since Monarch is based in Georgia and does not have a warehouse in CA, and the federal government isn't saying otherwise, they do not have to charge me tax.

I understand how it works.

I placed a tiny order w/ Monarch 4 days ago and it's still "submitted to the warehouse".

just as a counter. I've purchased several motherboard/cpu combos from monarch and I enjoy the fact that the test the systems before shipping them. This way I don't have to worry about a bad mobo or cpu during those troubleshooting phases. I thought I would save some money and order a combo from mwave. It apears that all they did was put the cpu on the mobo and drop it back in the box because the combo wouldn't even boot - yet they charged me for a "testing" fee. I find that fee 9 bucks or whatever well worth it to make sure the product works. But they didn't do it. I'm going back to monarch for my combos. I don't work for them or with them but they seem to be a good operation. Maybe they bit off a little more then they can chew from time to time.

Recently, I ordered "in stock" parts from monarch and recieved them two weeks later. Newegg beat Monarch by more than a week. Monarch was cheaper, but I don't think the wait time was worth the few bucks I saved.

I have only had one experience with Monarch. I was building a gaming system for my room, and ordered a Lian-Li Pc6070 computer case from them.

Shipping was ok, didn't take too long, considering that i'm in CA, BUT - when it arrived the Lian-Li box wasn't in great shape, AND there were scratches inside the case. Not small ones either. This case cleary had prior usage and was boxed up and sent to me masquerading as a new product.

Looking back, I should have been more assertive and simply sent the case back. Instead I posted a negative review on resellerratings.com, and within a few hours a Monarch Rep called me to discuss the issue.

I did appreciate the personal attention. The monarch rep was friendly enough, and he offered to give me a free stick of 512 mb DDR memory, but you could really tell that he was trying hard to get me to keep the case. This is what I took exception to - the way Monarch conducts itself in this regard. A real customer rep would have called, asked me what the problem was, and remedied it to my complete and total satisfaction within minutes. Instead, he kept me on the phone for 40 minutes, telling me about how much business they do, how much 'friendlier' they are than newegg, and how much responsibility he has in his day to day worklife.

In retrospect, I should have been much more straight forward and cut to the chase with their rep, but it was my first time online ordering a part this big and this essential to my computer, so I was willing to put up with it.

Nowadays I much prefer Newegg, simply b/c i'm in Irvine and they are in La Puente, so any RMA problems or order questions can be resolved right away. Fedex gets me the goods quickly and easily. However, I have received some parts from Newegg that seem as if they have been opened or used before, so I am always very diligent when it comes to inspecting my newly arrived parts.

ive only ordered one thing from monarch ever, and it turned out fine. i ordered stuff from three ppl, newegg, zzf, and monarch, and had them deliver stuff to my friends house which makes it a little more complicated - newegg took it in stride and had no problems. monarch emailed me for verification, then emailed again saying they solved it - and my part came on time so im satisfied. now zzf, thats a different story, they needed me to call and when they finally did send it (a couple days later than monarch) they forgot to send it second day and now i cant build my comp before i go camping. but the zzf girl that answered the phone had a nice voice =)

I ordered ram from monarch a few weeks ago and it took about eight days to get here with the fed ex saver. The only reason i had to do this was because newegg was out of stock. Monarch is not even close to being as good as newegg

well its only one day (for now) and this is the first time they didn't ship within the day for me but things like this are frustrating-

placed an order for some things last nite, 4 different vendors- zzf, buy.com, micro center and monarch. only one order didn't ship today. and of course its the mobo from monarch.

i mean its just a damn mobo. they billed it last nite, had it "in the warehouse" at 9:53 am and yet there it sits. and i paid for 2 day fedex as i knew everything else would be here, except maybe the network stuff which isn't critical. as it turns out, everything will be here but theirs.

people can bash newegg all they want but i guarantee you it would've shipped today from them. without the mobo, its kinda hard to do the build for my customer.

I have a great deal of influence (read: nearly total) on what computers my company buys, and what we buy on contracts I'm personally involved in. We've used Monarch in the past, because we like their customization options for SFF PCs (the Hornet is an excellent balance of cost/size/performance), and they're practically the only place that offers non-Shuttles pre-built. However, much as I like them, we cannot wait forever for them to build what we need. We don't even ask for an OS on our computers, and it's been like 3 weeks for this past one. While I certainly understand _delays_, this is ridiculous.

I am a forgiving person at heart, and I understand that rapidly-growing businesses get new problems that are tricky to deal with. I'm still willing to give them another chance. However - they need to get on the ball and start fixing these problems, because as generous as I am, time is money, and I cannot waste tons of time on a vendor that isn't giving us the things we need _when we need them_. If this means that you've gotta post a lead-time of a week for new computers, that's fine - just _tell us_.

fvck monarch. i can't believe they didn't even ship it today. 2 day fedex and it sits in their warehouse for 2 days. i'll never buy from them again, anything. i don't care what the price, i'll order elsewhere.
