OK, this has never happened to me before but just today I think i fried my monitor. I was starting up counterstrike getting ready to play some and while it was querying surveys and then suddenly the monitor started to give off a white smoke off the top and the picture started to blur. I figured it might be getting too hot so I quickly turned it off and unplugged it from the UPS. I have no idea what would cause it to start smoking like that it wasnt doing anything extra intensive. This was a generic brand 17" monitor I bought about 3 years ago. Settings were 1024x768 and frequency was set automatically. I had been using these settings for as long as I have had this monitor. The only difference is that I bought a new asus geforce 4 ti4200 about 2 months ago and have played many other games but havent played counterstrike on it. I have played counterstrike with video settings set to 800x600 and software video configuration. Now with the new card i set it to 1024x768 and Direct3D. After about 30mins of setting some options the monitor started smoking.
So I would like any ideas as to what caused this. Something with the Video Card or the settings in Direct3d and counterstrike or maybe the age?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
