Monitor power button just flashes

It started a few days ago, when I turn my monitor on, the power button just flashes for about ten minutes before the monitor actually turns on. Some days it takes longer, some days it takes about five minutes.

Could this be a VGA problem or is my monitor just dying?

It's an LG Flatron L227WTG and I've had it for over three years. This is the first time I've ever had a problem with this monitor before.

I have the same monitor and same problem. I've owned it for 3.5 years now and this just started happening last week. It usually takes about 10 minutes of "warming up" before it turns on, but tonight it took about an hour

I also had a different problem before this one. The monitor would go crazy scrolling through the control panel menus on its own. I had to lock the buttons to stop it, but then it would just spam OSD LOCKED in the middle of my screen constantly. Sometimes it would stop for a week then go at it again for an hour. I tried unplugging the control panel that the buttons are located on, but that didn't stop it.

The menu problem hasn't happened in a month and now the flashing light problem has started. So I guess it's dying. I did find a link claiming to solve this problem by replacing capacitors. This is my only monitor so I'm probably just going to buy a new one before attempting any repairs in case I botch it.
