Hello all,
I am having a very irritating problem with Vista and my new monitor.
Their are two computers connected to my Samsung 226BW my main computer with Windows XP Pro using DVI and my gaming computer using VGA on Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit.
The main computer can select the correct native resolution of 1680x1050 with no problems and works like a dream. BUT the Vista gaming box (with Nvidia 7600GS also tried 9600XT without luck) seems not to be able to select the native resolution of the monitor and show show a maximum resolution of 1600x1200?
So far I have:
-Installed latest monitor drives from samsung web site (includes support for Vista)
-Installed latest graphics drivers from nvidia web site
-Installed graphics drivers that were downloaded via Windows Update
-Installed drivers that came with graphics card and the monitor
-Used a dvi to vga converter on the graphics card
-Edited both the .ini files of the monitor and graphics card to add the correct native resolution of the monitor
At the moment the monitor is using 1280x720 and I have had enough of trying to make this work, my hope was to use older nvidia drivers for their web site but seems they do not offer an area to download them as I am always redirected to their latest ones.
If anybody has the same issue for any helpful advice I would be very great full. But if I can't get this working then I will be going back to Windows XP Pro.
