Monitor Turns Off At Random..

Hi everyone. not sure where to post this since there's no monitor subforum so... I have an AOC 22" LCD monitor that turns off at random times. The power stays on (as indicated by the blue power LED indicator) but the display just shuts down and comes back on after 1 to 3 seconds. I could be just browsing or playing a game when it loses display. I have an Nvidia 9800 GT video card if that helps. Any idea why it does this? Thanks.

Umm. Thats very odd. Id say defective monitor....

Id make sure you check monitor and/or OS power settings though. I dont know what could cause a monitor in use to do that.

I have that issue with my BenQ FP241VW, but it happens so rarely and randomly that I don't care. Some other users mentioned it could be the DVI cable.

Yeah thats not a bad idea. Maybe bad DVI cable connection or defective cable. In that regard, I guess it could be video card connector on the video card as well, which would be a defective video card.

Is it perhaps going into power saving mode due to windows turning it off? (check your power settings)

I'm pretty sure it's not going into power saving mode (XP SP3) because I have it set to 'Always On'. Only the screensaver kicks in after being idle for 10 minutes or I manually turn monitor off when not in use for awhile. I'll have to check the cable connection when I get home after work. thanks for your replies!

I've had this happen, when using HDMI on my GTX460 1GB OC Gigabyte card. I think either the HDMI cable, or the HDMI-to-miniHDMI is flaky.

Had to switch back to DVI.
