Moonrise Kingdom (wow!)

Moonrise Kingdom is a film that didn't open in many theaters; but unlike most flicks it has been growing in audience-share over the past few weeks. It is an off-beat romantic comedy by Wes Anderson.

If you can find this film, I highly recommend it.

I do have a concern regarding the plot though:

Why did there need to be a plot?

Good people will go see this; the mass of human-flesh will consume the raunchy teddy bear.

Saw this a few weeks ago. Not as strong as his other movies but I did enjoy and will watch it again. Also saw the bear movie you speak of and enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I don't understand why people can't enjoy both movies.

I liked it. In general I find Wes Anderson films a little precious, and I have the same criticism of this one, but it was certainly very sweet and I had a nice time watching it.

moonrise kingdom looks great, though i probably won't see it until it's out on blu-ray

I got a big thumbs up on this movie from my brother & sister-in-law. He said it was an independent film. We have a few movie theaters in town that show only independents so I'll be watching them for showings.

Thoroughly enjoyed it. It took a bit for me to get the feel of the plot, but once I did I rolled right along with it. In a nutshell, it did (at least for me) just what movies should do.

It is fantastic. I was able to see it about 3 or 4 weeks ago when it opened in SF (huge Anderson fan, so It is a must see for me).

It is his best since Royal Tennenbaums (I feel like his work has steadily declined since that "masterpiece"), and is more in line with his earlier stuff (Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, Tennenbaums). It is wonderfully innocent, honest, hilarious. Bruce Willis is great and as always....Murray is a bit underutilized (though maybe it's a good thing, because that persona of his could cloud out everyone else if overexposed).

All that being said--this is not for everyone, I think. I feel it will engender the typical responses to Anderson's work--either you love it or you loathe it.

Darjeeling was pretty terrible, I must say. To be fair, I should probably watch it again (because I really didn't like Tennenbaums when I first saw it--then slowly began to love it after a few more watchings. Now it is one of my all-time favorites.)

I disagree. I thought it was pretty good, certainly a cute movie that I enjoyed watching. Neither loved nor hated it, but I did feel I got my money's worth. I've never seen a Wes Anderson movie until now.

I think there were a lot of fans of his in the audience. There were people laughing constantly at every joke, no matter how insignificant it was. That was a little confusing to me; I didn't think the movie was THAT funny although it did have its moments. But like I said, I still enjoyed it and I'd probably see another movie by him in the future.

Saw it yesterday. The atmosphere was just right for the subject matter. I couldn't get over the resemblance of the girl to a newscaster here in Denver: Natalie Tysdal. She could play her daughter.

@astromanluca: When I went, people were laughing at everything. There were parts that, while funny, didn't seem to be "holy shit I shit myself" funny. More of a smile to self funny.

Saw it when it opened up here a while back. Like pretty much all of Wes' movies, I really enjoyed it and will certainly watch it again at some point (likely on DVD/BRD/Netflix etc).
