Moral ebay dilemma question

I sold a phone on ebay that would not detect service, otherwise it worked fine. I clearly stated that the phone did not work in the auction. Someone bought it using Buy It Now and paid immediately but now they want their money back because they read that the phone did not work the next day. Should I give the money back? or keep it and mail the item? It's not my fault that they waited until the day after they paid for the item to read the description. I'm leaving for Spain in a few days and I need the money, and well I sold the phone because I didn't want the hassle of trying to fix the phone, or dealing with ebay problems.

send them back the money minus any fees.

not worth the trouble that can happen.

If you keep the money and try to fight this out, they will probably file a chargeback and your money will be tied up anyway.

I would email the buyer and tell them that you will be happy to refund, minus a restocking fee.

Then I would relist and move on.

now why would he do that? it would just make him look like a fool (such as you just did).

What kind of actions can they take? I sold the phone because I didn't want to have to fix it. I figured I would cut my losses and get rid of it. The last thing I want is to get into a fight over this.

they can file through paypal, which will tie your money up for at least 30 days anyways, and if paypal does not help them, they can use a chargeback with their Credit card company, or bank. And chargebacks work quite often.

Anyways, just refund the guy's money, its not worth the hassle, since you'd be waiting for at least 30days for paypal to even release your money.

EDIT:

Also, since this is such a "moral" question, I believe the moral thing to do would be to just refund the guy's money.
