Super Size me was a propaganda piece, which proves humans accept messages based on form of delivery rather than actual facts.
His documentary about chicken farms was actually well done.

Healthy enough. It can be fine if you balance it out. I generally eat like dogshit and can still lose weight with discipline.

So McDonald's is healthy food?
He didn't actually prove anything in the documentary. Methods not disclosed, results confounded by alcohol consumption during the period of the experiment.

McDonalds has a dinky 0.1-0.25 pounds of beef in a single burger. It's very costly way to get a pound of beef, with much bread and soda eaten along the way.

Given enough motivation, and especially when it is to maintain some phony self glorification with some sort of sacred self-ism-identification that functions to mask self contempt, a person can rationalize anything and even the notion that this isl what everyone else is doing.

Kind of a strawman tbh, obviously it's not healthy food, especially the fries and sodas. His film was documenting the impacts of eating a fast food only diet while hiding the way his alcoholism was wrecking his body, so garbage data in.

LOL a Big Mac is a lousy 0.2 pounds of beef (pre-cooked). Can't understand why anyone would buy that for $5 when you can get a double cheeseburger with lettuce and that disgusting mac sauce, hold the mustard and ketchup, for $3 and have the same thing minus the middle bun.

I'm jonesing cause they got a $1 BOGO on them NOW! If that's not your total intake of your diet I have no problem with a Mickey D's now and then.

I think it's B1G1 free in the app right now. Though I'd still just do the B1G1 free on the double cheeseburger instead and save $2.

EDIT: Just checked and the deals are
* B1G1 free on Big Mac, quarter pounder w/ cheese, or 10pc nuggets
* B1G1 free on double cheeseburger or 6pc nuggets
* Free medium fries with purchase over $1

Can't combine coupons though for 15 minutes. Might take advantage of it this weekend when it's too hot too cook in my house and when they have the $1 large fries in the app again (they take it off on Fridays)

Deals for the rest of the country don't work hear at Washington franchises. Same with JackntheBox. They are paid somewhat close to living wages here.

Do you prefer the Big Mac or QPC?

Neither tbh, double cheeseburger is far and away the best value, though usually when I want a burger and fries I'll go to Whataburger since they keep giving me surveys on the receipt to get a free burger if I buy fries and a Coke, so comes out to like a $6 meal. Honestly my biggest use of McDonalds is buying the $1 large fries in the app to with whatever else I got elsewhere. Like buy a hotdog combo at Costco and then stop at the McDonalds nearby and get the $1 fries and it's a $2.70 meal after tax.

The first one was fun. The second one was actually pretty good. I liked how shocked he was that everyone wanted to eat his chicken sandwiches despite literally all of the advertising about how it was made lol.

Of course, no one is talking about the fact that he had been a raging alcoholic for 25+ years when he made the film, and that was likely the cause of his "liver" dysfunction blamed on McDonald's food in the film.

But hey, his intentions were in the right place.

The takeaways from the original were:

1. People read headlines. SuperSize Me was a great cultural ragebait concept because people want to buy into the story & not listen to reality.
2. He ate upwards of 5,000 calories a day. You could eat 5,000 calories of vegan food & have weight problems lol.
3. He later confessed to being an alcoholic, hence the negative doctor visit, which was most likely the main contributing factor to the bulk of his health problems in the show, as the test results have been unable to be replicated (see video below)

They did a fantastic rebuttal documentary called Fathead, disproving pretty much everything from the original film. It's a fantastic watch & is something I recommend to people who want to learn about macros.

I had to watch it in college then write an agreement or dissenting paper. I tore it up, from a methodology perspective.

I was just a teenager. The shock value worked regarding McD's being "that bad in that way". The veganism or any change to diet? Zero effect on me. I rewatched it, made a thread on it here. It's poor, suspect, and potentially full of bad faith in every segment.

And seriously, that ex-wife was onboard hardcore. Saying he had trouble getting hard ....flew over my head, but I'll bet a few teachers cringed a bit given the classroom lol.

Looks like some jerky like they left that patty in the warmer overnight or something.

A Big Mac meal is currently $12.50 in my area. People wonder why I tout a very expensive countertop oven, but 80/20 ground beef is under $6 a pound in my area. I can sous-vide a 7oz burger patty to be perfectly-cooked, melt-in-your-mouth like meatloaf & then pan-sear or grill it to make this with hardly any effort. The economics outside of convenience don't make sense: (and have you seen the prices at Five Guys lately?!)
